A winning plan for X Ball in Europe:
1. Get rid of coaching from coaches boxes and pit area.
2. Make sure the playing area is 12 - 15 meters from the netting to make any spectator participation just a distant drone.
3. Don't give out the field designs ahead of time.
All of the above to make it more stategic and less robotic.
4. If cost of paintballs is a major issue, cut the half-period times down to 15 minutes.
And this one I'm not so sure about:
5. Make it 7-player, also to make it more stategic.
6. Make sure that ALL the promoters and most of the playing community are 100% behind the project and are dedicated to quality.
7. Use only top-quality pro referees.
8. Use suitable field designs as has been suggested here, by a committee that includes Magued, Colin and Baca.
9. Employ someone who is detail and quality-oriented, experienced and has the passion and enthusiasm to run it.
One reason, among many others, for going with X Ball is the recent apparent growth in interest of Division X Ball at the recent World Cup. Even if North America is a different market it sure can't hurt to tie in with the hoped-for success of NXL on TV.
