Without meaning to take the thread off on a tangent, however....
Where do the rumours of Shawn Walker setting up a league in place of the NPPL (apparently learning from their mistakes?) fit into all of this?
I haven't heard that but you must remember Shawn had the pretty successful XPSL league before he threw his lot in with Bruce and Pacific Paintball.
I think the difference between running the XPSL and the NPPL soon became apparent when Shawn tried to navigate his way through the politics of running a major league that was for all intents and purposes, running in competition with the PSP.
In my opinion, and with no disrespect intended, Shawn did not possess the necessary people skills to be able to deal with the personalities involved at the top end of our sport.
This basically includes team owners but more importantly industry guys who were potential supporters, vendors and / or sponsors.
The problem is, they are sometimes interconnected and if you pi$s off a team, you sometimes pis$ off its owner which then sometimes ripples across the sponsor portfolio .... it was not an easy job for sure.
As time went on, and it became clear the losses encountered from one event to the other weren't gonna turn around, the die was cast and Shawn had to go.
But the damage had already been done it seems.
I think we will see Shawn again but maybe not in any major role.
As for Bruce?
Our industry needed him, it seems he didn't need us
