2004 competition overload up north

A lot of tourneys in a short space of time.
With Bullys and PA announcing their dates already should be fun to see how how the SAD crew position thiers.
My info is that due to the requirements of the CPL the dates will not be available until the Millennium dates are released allowing the top teams to play both.without a CPL forfiet.
Obviously the MM 5 man will depend on the CPL fixtures.
Surprisingly the south seems to be in a bit of turmoil, especially strange as most of the best teams are apparently based down there.
The M25 gridlocked, the SWPL fighting for credability and rumblings of another league, but nothing seems to running smooth down there. Hope things sort themselves out soon

Off now to save up for next year, loads of training and playing. No marker to buy thank God, just servicing to pay for.

There are indeed a lot of tourneys for 2004 but in support of the PA League which I am hoping to play - this is not an "upnorth" tourney - it's a National tourney - based in the midlands so everyone can get to it.

It's based in the Midlands but it's not supposed to be a "midlands" tourney - it's national. I can't stress enough how BIG this is for paintball in the UK.

And it's not just "yet another" tournament series!! This tourney is trying to be something very different - town names incorporated into team names, prize money, relegation & promotion at the end of the series - this is moving paintball towards being a proper sport and in my opinion it's a cut above the rest - this thing is something different!!

The P.A. have also stated that they will not clash with the dates for the Millenium, so from that I assume that they have already been decided and passed on but not announced.

Going to be a huge year I reckon

I said this earleir on this year that there was to many tourneys.

I also said that why dont they all join together and make one big tourney!

And that s wot I thought the CPL was all about. A kno the spaces are limited etc, but people come on!

Wots the point of having loads of diff tourneys run by diff companies????

It just means that some teams don't get to play alot of the others cause they are in a diff tourney!

I'm gonna be honest and say that I think it SUKS that we don't have one major tourney, I mean look at the NPPL over the pond!
Dont know how many teams are in that or anything but wot i do know is that it is a success.

Is their any need for us to have 4 seperate tounraments????
I certainly dont think so.

If everyone played in the same tourney then you come up against a wider range of teams, more compition better ball i reckon.
PLUS the prize money would go up, if there were loads of teams paying entry then obviously there s gonna be more cash.

Now a kno am prob gonna get shot down in flames about this, but if there was 1 major tournament in the UK that all tourney teams played in, not only would the STANDARD of play be raised as you would be playing quality teams that might not have been playing in your series previously. Events would get bigger and better!

Again look at the NPPL, these mofo's are playin on beaches in stadiums etc........why???
I think a big reason is that so many teams enter so the organisers have more money to spend on things like good quality venues.
Yeah Euro 5 man step forward with bein in a staduim but come on............. on event all year????

Brit ballers I reckon really need to have a good long look at ourselves, and then look at the Yanks..........

How can we seriously compete with these guys if there playin in staduims and we play in fields with portable toilets at the side????

They play against loads and loads of teams, our divisions have like 10 teams in them maby??

A aint disrepecting any tourney over here, I love the ball i play here and really appreciate the efforts that get put in by the organisers. But i just get pissed off when I look over the pond.

Lets face it......... we are years behind them and it suks, there is no reason why we can t have wot they do.

If all the teams got together with the all the organisers and got sumthin sorted and take the steps forward, to gettin the standards of venues, playin ability and just get ballin on its feet over here.

There is NO reason why we can't, fair enough there are more teams over there but if us lot work together and use our heads........then.........well who knows.

i know i'm harping on about this at the moment but ....

Mak D !! (You're fab so please take this in the nicest possible way it's intended - i don't mean to shout at you or shoot you down in flames - honest.)

The PA League is trying to be exactly what you're after. Sure, it's gonna start small but when people see how good it is then I'm sure we will get it growing into the big national tournament that everyone wants.

The PA League is being marketed as THE NATIONAL TOURNEY for the UK - don't sit on the sidelines and say "i wish we had a national tourney" whilst playing every series but. i'm sure this tourney will set the standard and those teams that want to be taken seriously will play it.

I don't mean to be too harsh but The Clan isn't going to get much outside sponsorship until you become Edinburgh Clan or Livingstone Clan and you give your local companies a reason to support you. Hey, you could even be Edinburgh Princes Street Clan and get all the shops on Princes Street to support you. Once we start getting teams doing that kind of thing then the sport will grow, the national tournament will grow, and the little tourneys can continue if they want but more and more people will play the national and then it will become the biggest!
