english isnt my mother toung. am from a town where if i spoke to you i think about 2 words in every 10 would sound english to you.

i think am also done here as this seems to be alot of missy is right she says something i counter shes still right. even tho her evidence is as good as mine.
Dude, his evidence is based on fact and enormous experience. Yours is based on a few friends and a years playing. We all know who Missy is, and what changes (many changes) he has helped implement over many years. Ive watched the best players in the world compete at his tournaments for the right to say "I am world champion!"

In fact, World Champions have won using guns from Missy's factory, playing on speedball fields also dreamed up in "that" house.

You have played a few times at a rec site.

You beginning to understand?

outside people would sponsor anything you convince them is worth while.

i recently aproched 2 companies. one i will name. one i will not

the one i will name is http://www.oilandgaspeople.com/

there family thats why. they offered top range shirts and entry fees.

i also aproched a companie who offered travel arangments

if every team had free travel and free entry wouldnt that make more teams want to enter?

my only problem is were woodsball and i cant find any huge woodsball tourneys.
I'm torn, as on one hand you got off your ass and got your team some local sponsors - which is commendable and must be recognised as such, however, I have, in the past 5-6 years, worked with at least 5 individuals whose sole responsibility was to attract outside sponsors, with a degree of success. Activision, US Army, Spy Eyewear, Body-glove and Corona to name a few, but these companies expected some kind of ROI, which paintball never offered them, so they pulled out after the first season. A reasonable outside event sponsorship would be for 50g. Thats a gold sponsor, a good one 100g (plat)

I did however find some common ground with this statement. I agree 100% that if teams got free travel there would be more teams playing events. Try approaching your family up there for another 130 x 6 (780) free flights, 4-5 times per year. If they're up for it you may single-handedly save the MS, leaving just 4 or 5 other leagues to take care of. How much money does your family have?

trying to keep up with this thread so sorry for editing posts.

no am not dyslexic. its recently been unclassed as an illness anyway. i always get told am to lazy to put a sentance togther. i feel i just dont undertsand all the . , : ; etc. and spelling is confusing. there scottish english and american. ive been told them all. and to add to the mix they tried to learn me french, german and lithuanian.
bollox.

have told me without proof that 1 site is doing better. while i have said that one site has recently closed.
ive also double checked and its £160 per box they charged wih £50 entry
The site I reference is the NPF in Birmingham. Call 'em, and I can give you other examples if you wish. No problem. Which country would you like them to be based in?

friends play every 2 weeks with me. the prices let me go crazy with paint. am happy to fire away 2-4k balls a day. if they cost more my skills would need to improve lol.
Some people may believe that you firing 2-4k a day at people is part of the reason fewer players migrate into competitive play, and if you shot 1k-2k your skills WOULD improve, which is kinda the idea...

is alot of people saying there is fewer teams and teams folding. not one sorce altho i do not no who Dunayshun!! is.
a lot of anecdotal forum-evidence? - why didn't you say so? Let me restructure my argument.... oh wait...
not sure if the Oh no is just dont go there or as in no. however i didnt say only paintball did but that i only see it. still new here so probably wrong on that. ive also not looked into paintball anywhere but UK and even then its mostly scotland.
Oh no just means the only thing lamer than a "what are we going to do?" thread is a "lets get some outside sponsors" thread.

last thingaltho unrelated the exchange rate from us to uk is at around 1.6 us to £1 not 2-1
I was talking Canadian dollars.

Doesn't that tell you something though? These people aren't brown-nosers, they have just had these discussions before and reached logical conclusions.

those prices are for a site that went bust proving my point on costs.
You proved that charging twice the national average will put you out of business. You didn't need to prove that. I think everyone could work that out.

You did not prove that charging 25% of the national average makes you money, or more successful in business, or thats it's even a sustainable business practice (it isn't), which is what you should be trying to do if you want to make your argument stick.

am going to thank you for your kind words. and am going to return by saying you have achieved a lot in PB and by sound of it i owe you my my love for the sport.

id just like to say am going to take what you say on this and look at it a little more befor i post back. so far ive been hurried to reply. sadly thats between games of COD lol.

my family sponsor offered me the shirts and entry the other sponsor which has offerd the travel is dependant on which events we can enter. they want players in the 100s. so far i cant offer that. but pro tournaments i guess could. i would love to play in these mostly because all you big names seem to be in them.

now back on topic. am new to paintball therefore what am seeing is what happens around me. (call this my retreat if you like) now in scotland or even more Aberdeen way i see 3 sites near 1. one is about to close its doors over charged. one which is now looking for a bigger site was ace with prices usaly charging alot less than advertised.

thats all i can call fact in my statment. i can say everything else is depending on the future. but has proven the case in the past.

This isn't even legible.

But I think you're saying in your last line that dropping prices means more profit, and increasing them means less profit (in your 'experiance')

This is beyond belief, and is the nail in your arguments coffin, and possibly your career as a financial adviser...

If I make something for $1, and sell it for $2, I make $1 profit.
If I sell it for less money, say $1.50. I make 50% less profit. If I sell 10000 extra units, I still make 50% less profit. Profit is the difference between what you buy for, and what you sell for (I can't believe I'm writing this)

What you are talking about is gross revenue. In theory (there's that word again) if you lower the price you should sell more units, but even so, you are less profitable, because you are making less money per unit.
This 'thoery' (I'm not even going to correct that) depends on the market, as a market will only sustain so many sales for product. It also depends on manufacturing yield, as If I can only make 10,000 units, and decide to sell them for less money, it is impossible for me to make more revenue. It also depends on market forces, as if I drop prices and so does my competitor, then we both sell the same, but for less money, delivering less profit AND less revenue...

Please continue to tell me how wrong I am....

You're quitting? But you were doing so well!

I know some sites in Aberdeen. Which ones are you talking about?

yes profit depends on sales. sales depend on demand. demand comes from either being rare or affordable. i would never cut prices by 50% am suggesting drop 10 -20% bring in more cutomers more often.

the talk of yeild etc dosent come into paintballs as there in huge supply. am guessing thats because they must be used by everyone playing. get to the stage where more balls are used than made and watch prices rocket

and Battle Grounds is or was my local. there currently relocating.
i cant say which is closing but it will be seen shortly am not sure am supposed to know i sort of found the information

It's like talking to a brick wall. Do you disagree with my post where I outlined profitability? Yes or no?

I take it you're talking field operators, so I'll switch to that (I was talking 'general industry')

You drop by 20%. Where does your extra business come from?
Your competition.
So they drop 20%. Now you both make 20% less money.
How are you more profitable?

It cannot be proven that the less a paintball site charges their customers, the more business they do, simply because the busiest fields in the world - NPF, Bigfoot, Paintball Mirabel, Skirmish USA, SC Village, CPX, Hells Survivors, and so on, have some of the highest prices. They attract customers through the quality of their offering, not the price they charge.

On the flip-side, I have seen many fields go out of business because they tried to be too cheap. They thought that if they were cheaper they would get the business, but they didn't, because they had a crap product. People spend their recreational dollars based on value, not price, otherwise everyone would be shooting Tippmanns & Spyders, bought from Wall-mart.
