I found this thread is quite funny,
not because of what happenend about food , or price;
but because I can't believe some people were shocked ... :D

I'm maybe not old enough, but since 6 years,:
- food has never been good on a millenium (and lot other paintball event); but are you thinking going to a 4 star restaurant ?
- prices are worse every year, you are in paintball; you spend a lot in your favourite game, what is £10 for food compare to entry fee/paint /plane ticket ...
This year, no uk shop were having a stand = They can't sell any other brand than the other, thanks Millenium sponsoring rules; so why would they turn up to sell exactly the same products that other people ?
I was same for all Millenium 09 events ...

I know lot of you won't agree with my mind, but i'm too stupid to keep it for me

Please note this is a personnal mind.

I am more worried about what they are going to say when i send them a email about us not playing turkey and the fine that they are going to impose.

What would you suggest?
If they get heavy handed, get heavy handed back.

Take the contract to any local solicitor and see what they say about it. Make sure you mention the Malaga and Paris debacles.

Basildon was, in my opinion, the best event the Millennium have managed to run this year. Simply because all the games ran in the expected manner and counted towards rankings.

Demand your spot for next season (if you want it) and don't pay any rediculous fines.

Shame you can't make it to Turkey - shame you guys have had such a momentous ****-up of a season as an introduction to International ball.

It is pretty unacceptable that there was a theft from what is supposed to be the Millennium’s “secure” press tent, it is a part of the Millennium’s contract with media partners that the press area is secure and I feel bad for Henk that his bag was taken. Personally I have not really been happy with the level of security at most of the events this year, other than Bitburg where they rolled out the red carpet with the threat of paintball being banned there. Malaga I only ever saw a member of the Millennium staff in the press tent once, in Paris every time they put any drinks out for the media partners there were trade stand staff going in and cleaning it out, this event I took one look at it, saw no staff on the door and decided to take up the goodwill offered and park my stuff on a trade stand. However, I will say that Wendy, in Lars absence, did do a good job of handling the press and making sure there were drinks available, unlike the situation at other events.

Whoever took the bag, if you are part of the paintballing community, you should feel totally ashamed of yourself. Paintball photographers work their arses off at events and this is no way for them to be repaid. However, Henk has said that any information given leading to its recovery will be dealt with in a “no questions asked” manner and I am happy to pass information on if anyone has any.

As for the venue, it was OK, it certainly wasn’t the worst, Belgium as has been cited, and in my opinion, Toulouse last year, rock hard rutted fields, surrounded by Pikey camps!

On the subject of food, I have one simple rule, never buy anything on site! Exceptions have been made, but only after others have told me a) how good it is and b) how reasonably priced it is. I never expect the food at any outside catered event to be good and well priced and would rather go without or make other arrangements than get my wallet and my belly raped.

Especially when there are far too few portaloos, as witnessed by the fact that most, if not all of them were rank, blocked and devoid of tissue by Friday morning, let alone Sunday.

After a team mate talked to one of the food vendors yesterday he found out that the vendor had to pay £1000 to be there for the weekend which is probably why the prices were ridiculously high
I figured as much. I'd love to see the Millenniums balance sheet to see what their incomes and out goings are.

5 x Vendors @ £1000 = £5000
42 x M5 teams @ £500 = £21000
95 x Div2 to CPL teams @ ??? Call it £1500 each as a round figure = £142500
+ Trade stand charges which may or may not be the same as vendor charges but assuming they are...... 8 x £1000 = £8000

Total (ish) £176500 for a single event

Surely their operating costs can't come to that, or even close to it as they'd be out of business in a heartbeat. They'd have to put money aside for future purchases/development such as the new inflatable fields, stands from last year, etc. So at the very least Im sure (as they are the lowest costs) they can take a cut from vendor and trade stands charges to push down the vendor costs so they aren't passed on to the customers and we end up paying £5 a burger. And if they slim down the trade stand costs, and get rid of that stupid restriction on suppliers then we could get more vendors there.

Hell, offer a flat miniscule fee (£50, £100 or something) for anyone with a single small pagoda vendor tent, and increase (at a reduced rate) the trade tent cost for larger tents. Companies like Eclipse, Dye, Draxxus, JT, Empire, Smart Parts, etc, are companies that can cover those costs (albeit it with some wincing still I'd guess,) but small companies WILL NOT attend if they are getting screwed for a huge fee to be there when they will make very little money out of it, or as is more likely.....they'll make nothing !!

Not sure where I said companies didn't have teeth?

All I said was that a business should have a focus on their product. I think it was disney's tagline, given that you mentioned them :), that was "We try to make people smile" or something like that. Or do you think a mission statement should just be. "We want to be around long enough to get lots of money"

You have even said that companies have visions and statements to be successful. So what is wrong with what I said?
The only reason companies have those, is to keep focused on what they are doing, rather than thinking we should do this, or we should do that every few weeks (as many small businesses do). So basically they have visions in order to keep their focus on how to make money. This even goes for non profit minded companies. Believe me, I've worked management positions in severely profit minded companies and in non profit companies (where management still makes shedloads).
These days I run my own business. The reason I don't cut corners on what I do/make is because I don't only need money now, but also in the future. You seem to be saying the same thing, but your reason appears to be some moral code, where as in reality it's just the bottom line driving us.

And Disney is the evillest of them all....;)

Let's stop this part of the discussion though, it's a threadjack from the original point of this thread.
