Bit left field but I loved it. 1st ever millenium event played for me after starting ballin 6 years ago. So getting there was a swine (2 hours parked on the M25), the food was rubbish (so went to Tesco) but that's it. I don't play paintball because of Gordon Ramsey or Jeremy Clarkson. Besides I can afford all the kit and the *cough* spare kit, a £2 ice cream on a hot day isn't going to tip me over my credit card limit.

I played with No Limit in Div 3 and the field and the refs were top form. Every team we played was on top form, special mention to Jags who we beat day 1 but day 2 they whooped ass with vengence and Harpies who were far prettier than their name suggests.

Same situation we had which resulted in us losing our Div 1 spot. We knew we couldnt field a full team for all events, and so had to give the spot to the MS, who then sell it onto another team. A few years of work, gone.

If only they unlocked rosters and had like how the PSP's roster rules are.

I see what your saying but we have the players to play but not the means we have tried every thing we could think of like loans and other stuff,

I have got the contract with some one at the moment so i will wait to see what the out come is.

The goal of any real company is continuity. Which usually equates to making money. The only reason companies have visions and mission statements is because they try to go for the long dollar, rather than the short one (which would lead to your doom scenario, but they found out long ago not to do that).
The real world isn't as fluffy as you think, it tends to have teeth, lots of them.

All I said was that a business should have a focus on their product. I think it was disney's tagline, given that you mentioned them , that was "We try to make people smile" or something like that. Or do you think a mission statement should just be. "We want to be around long enough to get lots of money"

You have even said that companies have visions and statements to be successful. So what is wrong with what I said?

Sorry Mr Holier-than-Thou that I can't respond immediately- some people have other things in their lives apart from sitting in front of computers- I work for a living and don't often get the chance to reply. Good enough for you?

In the non-literal sense, Ulrich's job is to ensure that there is a level playing field for this competition, that rules are adhered to and everyone receives a fair crack of the whip. This is simply not the case. I honestly believe that in any other line of work the guy could be sacked for gross incompetence. On top of that, on a personal level, he is genuinely tactless and insulting. With an overflowing catalogue of consistent ineptitude, the series really needs to consider getting rid of him to bring back any creditability. I really cannot go into specifics about how he's riled me so much- it would implicate teams that I don't have a problem with.

F8ck the event. It's a shame that it's in the middle of nowhere, costs a fortune, doesn't have the same vibe/atmosphere/whatever you want to call it as Crystal Palace, that the food is lower quality than dog food and more expensive than truffles. I came to the event as a paying customer wanting to compete against my peers. In the end, I got fleeced for several hundred pounds for 20 minutes of paintball and insulted by remnant of the cold war who dresses like an Australians nightmare.

Tit, ulrich's customer attitude is legendary, he truly did graduate from the Gestapo school of customer care and he is still performing in the same way.

I think it's probably a lost cause in trying to change him because he has proved time and again he is unable to sustain any change he might have made to satisfy his employers.
I know for a fact he has been 'talked to' on a few occasions and so I can only assume he is either disobedient or unable to change, the former I find hard to believe if we consider his background and so it seems to be the latter.

That said, the Millennium now have to take a long hard look at this man and what he does for them because the only consistent thing we seem to have when looking at Millennium events for the past five years or so is the complete lack of sympathetic consideration from ulrich von klinkerhoffen when dealing with the paying customer.
I have said on many occasion, 'He's got to go' and after reading Mt Tit, I am now convinced it might prove beneficial were he to be shown the door.

We'll just have to take lucky dip on who does his job next but it seems pretty obvious to me at least, this now seems to be the lesser of evils as against what I had previously suspected.

John, Disney actually over-focused on their core product and were in a terrible position until Eisner came along and whored out their brand to every merchandising opportunity available, opened Disney stores selling branded items world-wide, opened Disney World resorts, moved them into broader film production etc.

The lowest cost, most efficient providers survive hard times and beat competition. IKEA, for example, design furniture from target packaging sizes because their greatest cost per unit is logistics and by being able to cram huge amounts of flat-pack crap into each container they make huge profits. They have got the perceived value right too, but they start at the bottom line. I think Buddah's post is pretty bang-on.

The Millennium clearly aint got the balance right, but they seem to have done some things well this time. I aint read everything here, but if food is the main gripe...

That, boys and girls, is a post! Love it.
I don't have a dog in this conversation so I've stayed out of it but I am interested simply because the MS, like it or not, has a real impact on competitive paintball in Europe--for good or ill. Seems to me the dividing line in this discussion is what constitutes a reasonable expectation on the part of players/customers.

The thing is that I fully agree that all food and drinks were hideously overpriced. I just don't put the blame on the MS, I don't see it as their responsibility, after all, they don't tell the other vendors at what prices to sell their paint.
Though it might be a good plan if they had food sellers from different companies, so that perhaps the competition could drive prices down. I noticed that most, if not all people selling foor were from one and the same organisation. Now they had a sort of monopoly, as there was no other place to get food within walking distance. In that sense perhaps you could put some of the blame on the MS.

Anyhow, one thing for which I think the people running this little shindig should be publicly humiliated, is the toilets... I'd bring it up, but I think I might throw up.

Thankfully the toilet issue wasn't an issue for me being as I have a pathological loathing for those type toilets and will avoid them at all costs favouring a burst bladder to walking into one of them things.

When i saw how few there were I did say to Jay (Buddha) there is nowhere near enough of them and casually commented, 'imagine what those bastids are gonna be like come Sunday morning', it seems they were less than wholesome.

Back to the point, if you concede the MS were responsible for ensuring there was no monopoly then I think it also safe to assume they should feel some responsibility toward the pricing.
After all, I agree people could have walked all the way back to their cars and gone somewhere else but in reality, the people at the Campaign Cup were a captive audience and as such should have been afforded the respect of reasonable pricing for food and refreshments.
If I held any type of event, I would wanna know what the pricing is gonna be and even if I didn't and subsequently found out they were ripping the ass outa my customers, I would go over and have a little talk and ensure they had a fair price.

To me, it's all about 'not taking the pi$s outa people' and I think this did just that.

After a team mate talked to one of the food vendors yesterday he found out that the vendor had to pay £1000 to be there for the weekend which is probably why the prices were ridiculously high
