In terms of innovations, we haven't really seen anything that could improve the sport as a whole. In my opinion, looking at the technologies behind marker manufacture won't hold any keys to a sport-wide revolution, it'll just breed the next generation of "isn't my gun special" consumers. Sure, innovation is nice, but I think making the sport more affordable and accessable is a much more fundamental goal than producing, say, a marker without a macroline. There was a thread not so long ago about the future of the sport, eg paint can only shoot so straight, markers can only shoot so fast, and things looked pretty grim from what I remember. Companies SHOULD be trying to be innovative, just look at smart parts, ok they sue anyone and anything they can (ok slight exageration), but they did some fantastic things for the marker industry none the less.
In my eyes if your not being innovative and helping the technologies move along, you should f*** off so those companies who are trying to be innovative can get continued revenue to do so.
Now PE copied the intimidator in the form of the ego, you can't deny it, an ego is just a timmy with a QEV, a mod which was being done by some timmy owners before PE came along. And one which has been a questionable change. They then mass marketted it and became "the thing to have".
But what have they done that is new? What have they brought to the table that no other manufacturer has?
Like I've said, innovation doesn't equal success. What PE have done is produce workhorse reliability on a tournament grade marker. You get new guys getting into it asking advice on what markers to get, you either point them in the direction of the cheaper budget markers (slg, ION), or second hand ego's/eteks. They still keep up. They're simple, functional, and they've stood the test of time.
Yes, PE use already existing technologies, but they use it to produce quality markers. Just because they're not at the forefront of research doesn't mean they're not a viable company producing viable products.
And besides. There will always be companies that come out with the next big innovation. I seem to remember there being an ego7, ego8 and ego9 but we still have the wonders of rechargable, macroline-less, usb fitted gats. Don't fret too much.
