Some Info

World Cup has *NEVER* been held in Orlando. Traditionally it's been held next to or at Disney World in Kissimmee, FL, about 25 minutes from the airport. I've usually stayed in a villa about 35 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from the event location.

This year, it is in Polk City Florida, which is about 20 minutes down the expressway from the Disney exit. That puts it about 40 minutes from the Orlando airport, and still 15 minutes from the house I have been staying in.

If you stay in Lakeland, you will be about 10 minutes west of the location, which is about exactly halfway between the Tampa and Orlando airports but further from Disney.

Anyway, it's pretty much the same as year's past in terms of geography only 20 minutes further down the expressway. The facility should be better for playing purposes.

useful lesson in geography, exactly what I have been trying to explain to people!

It is unfortunate that most Brits have the same type of grasp of US geography as most Yanks have of European geography

The Villa route is by far the most cost effective, having had a quick look 8 bedroom Villas are available at around $250 a day, you should be able to fit 12 in comfort in to one of these, with your own pool etc.

The Main thing about this year is thats its not in Orlando, its right in between Orlando and Tampa, so i take it it will be new for everyone regarding whats there and where to stay!!!

But the first thing guys, until the cup gets a bit closer that log on to pspevents.com for undated news, but I will be doing all I can to in form everyone whats going on!!!
The World Cup has never been in Orlando.

It may be 15 minutes further from the Orlando airport than it was last year. It is probably 10 miles further, but no travel time further than it was for the location before Disney.

I would guess that if every person stayed in the exact same place they stayed last year, the avg person would drive 10 additional minutes to the site this year.

I'm just pointing out that we moved locations, and even changed cities, it hasn't be relocated across the state as some people seem to want to suggest.

The event is literally 15-18 minutes from where it was the last 5 years.

The best place to get information is from the PSP website -- www.pspevents.com

I hope people don't think I'm being negetive on this, OK its never been Orlando I want lots of Europeans to go I want to put 2 Teams in and play the Masters........any news Lane????????????

I think its quite funny that if you go on to PB Nation, there's lots of players saying differant things about how long it takes to get to the new site form the old place, some say 10 mins and other say 40 mins!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway I have always said I will try and give players info when I can, and to keep on looking on pspevents.com for more info.

Twizz - I didn't mean to imply that you were starting bad info as much as I meant to let you know some of the info that people are posting is bad. And I feel like you may have took that bad info as the truth.

I haven't actually driven from the old site to the new site. I did hit the odometer as I passed the old site on I-4 and the new site is exactly 14 miles straight down the Interstate. I'm assuming from memory that it would take a couple of minutes to get to that point on the interstate and 13 minutes to drive the distance on the Interstate and that's where I get the 15 minutes from the old site. I am certain that I could be wrong by a minute or two.

I am equally certain that we have moved the World Cup far enough away from anything it's been around for 12 years to make people feel like we've abandoned the nostalgia of the surroundings. The houses that we rent are actually closer to the new site than the old site. I am sure some will be farther.

People act like not having Old Town 5 minutes away will make them not attend. But it isn't important enough to drive 15 minutes to. It baffling.

There will be a release about Masters as soon as the is information to give. Right now (and I have to reiterate the fact that we are 3 months from the event) i don't know what we are going to do. It isn't as simple as saying "yes, we'll do it". We are looking at reduced attendance as a very likely scenario. We are looking at what we could do with field count accordingly. As much as I enjoyed player the masters as well, I the novelty divisions (masters and young guns) come last on the list of priorities.

If there is a way to do it with out having to up the ref costs or create problems for the meat and potato divisions and their schedule and ref criteria, then we will do it.

My guess is that it will happen. But, until a decision is made, it is simply a guess.

Hopefully, we will settle on a number of teams that we feel comfortable making plans around next week. from there it is simply putting the pieces together and seeing that they fit. Once that is done, we will announce the plans for the Masters or let everyone know that we cannot do it this year.

Some people don't like that. But that is indeed the priority in which things will happen, regardless.
