Poland's pretty safe - Paintball guns fall under the category of air rifles over here and as long as a paintball shot out of a marker doesn't have more than a certain amount of kinetic energy (which it doesn't with a properly set up marker) it's legal. We were fortunate enough to have a sympathetic parliament representative on our side when they were doing some major changes to the gun law about 10 years ago - before that you had to have a gun licence to own a marker.
err - perhaps I should have said German Politicians, but I'm sure most people got the humour.

I think you'll find that we were lucky to have Steve Bull & the UKPSF on the case, especially in the last round of changes 3 years ago, when they clamped down on the Airsofters.

We need to show ourselves in the best light possible and by getting behind the Maxs Masters is a good way of doing that. Even if people aren't playing, the more spectators we have the more impressive and professional it will look. The fact that the idiots who cause issues are not generally from the Tourney or Scenario scene is not important - when they see a large number of people gathered acting professionally they will believe that what they are seeing is indeed PAINTBALL and it will be generalised to some extent in their heads.

The politicians are doing exactly what they did with Dumblane, here in the UK. A tragic event that involved a psycho with guns - instead of doing something about the failings of the authorities at the time who were informed the guy was unstable - they ban hand guns.

Michael Ryan (Hungerford) was another example of lunacy - he wen't looney with an AK and back then then they banned automatics (well anything capable of holding 2 rounds and one in the breach).

The German government had something like this happen before when a K Cylinder incident injured (or killed??) someone on a site. Again Bully and Co were there working with our Euro colleagues.

If they get their way then unfortunately it will be a matter of - "Ein befehl ist ein befehl" (forgive my spelling my German friends) but we have the opportunity here to make a stand.

I'm ready to make that stand - I'm going to Bitburg and the car is loaded up with torches and pitchforks...Not taking any markers though as they're not F stamped.

during the day we had some real positive statemens from the press AND the poltiticians but around 900 pm CET the news changed again and the great coalition is stating that they are still planning to ban paintball.

tomorrow morning is the official PR-conference where they will come up with all the details. please keep your fingers crossed. if they won't move on this ban we have to work harder and harder. it could be then decided in 3 weeks.

we are really in trouble over here. :(

As I understand from that article, the stance on "fighting games" has softened, with some respite for "transition" before fines are imposed; while not an outright victory it appears to keep the door open for further development in the situation.

To me paintball is a sport and nothing else, and i think the companies that make paintball products will be very P!ssed off and wont let go too far i would of thought. like Paintball Kitty has shown, we need to educate people and show them it is nothing but a grate sport and it keeps a smile on our faces:D . So a big thank you to PbKitty

THe issue is its election year. People want easy votes so the party picks a something thats not widely known but seen as violent and they get the easy votes.
Education is the only way, however time is handing us our ass on that factor.

situation is really severe at this very moment. we are talking to politicians and asking our fellow paintball community and their relatives to call politicians, after a flood of e-mails they have sent.

we need all support because the great coalition stated today that they will still hold on to a ban of paintball. if you want to held a paintball tourney or even for playing the asking 5000 euro fine. it is ridiculous because in every over country (beside italy) paintball is allowed.

situation is not good but we keep on fighting. please support us! thanks

ThreeD, I can't get onto that group for some reason but i've joined the groups that came up under the "germany paintball" search.

Maybe you can tell us the name of your group so we can search it.
