Which is funny as the event was cancelled :D

As for getting sand in your kit bag.................... You are on a beach what did you expect?

The Millennium are going to spray the sand next year with a silcon solution, they use this at the Bahrain Grand Prix so the sand does not blow around. The cost of this is about 5,000,000 million euro's, but seeing as they have the entrance fees from malaga there is the down payment! So this should keep everyone happy :D

Luke if I was you I would contact the Millennium and send them a email about the sand as I have a feeling they did not know sand get's into things, just a thought you may want to try it. I think part of the issue with them not knowing is they were blinded by the wind kicking up some stuff at the weekend.

Edit........ Just spoken to the Millennium and they stated they are sorry it was the wrong kind of sand! It was Spannish sand and not the English sand they ordered

Why are you being such an arse to him ?

It was his first ever big event and it was crap yeah the weather couldn't of been helped but there are more problems at the event than just the weather,

If you were there Andy and saw how flippant they were with us and you can see it with the email from barry it wasn't fair on the players.

The games you could watch on the friday were spoiled by the netting and the games that were played the Sunday the same thing.

Yeah it was on the beach but i have played the HB and all the areas that players walk are turfed and the fields are rolled and flat and the turf is new not looking like its been used for about 4 years.

The comments about why not go out and party with all the night well some guys are to young for it and not there to party away, and some players are on a budget because they have just paid out 8k on there entrance for the year plus flights and hotels and paint and food, so just saying go out and get smashed i think is a little condescending.

and to be told oh well F1 golf and tennis have the same problem is just a piss take does jenson button pay for his own travel and food and entrance fee or does tiger woods ?

The weather couldn't be helped but what could be helped are these just a little list.

Not being told you weren't aloud on site early because registration wasn't open till 3.

Having one person who couldn't type at any speed on the desk doing all the players id's while the rest of the board was sat in a bar eating dinner if there were problems they should have been there to sort it out not having people standing for 4 hours to get a id card when people had done it already on line,

Not having a field to walk till 6pm at night but the m5 field was up and they dont even start till saturday???

Turf on field being very dangerous to play on with the amount of mounds and the turf not even meeting at places.

The lack of security people just walking around in the pits trying to sell gear

The lack of security in the car park

The lack if information being told to players and teams and making them stand around all day but feeding them a crap line about the players party being moved forward (who cares)

it would be nice to be told what is going on instead of a flippant email saying its not us its the weather and saying well you could of gone out to the bars and been bullied by drug dealers and hookers ( not even nice ones)

Being sold crap pron.

Please andy see it from a players prospective and a new ones at that.

It was down to weather and every one knows that our players were having a amazing first event but things need to be addressed and let people know.

And it would be really good if the last event was known as well.

Not completely, Div 2 and M5 games were still being played.

A bit of sand my kit bag I can deal with, but even the few places they did lay turf was done badly: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p120/lw2309/DSCF3016.jpg

Another useful contribution...

The Millenniums know how I feel.

Any other smart ideas?

I have to agree with every thing markie has said in his post.

Last year the excellent weather in malaga masked over all those problems and i now feel that the same will happen this year with the bad weather covering up pretty much the same problems as before.

As for Chris Bell's comment that S**T HAPPENS!!,i dont believe anyone has a problem with the games being suspended due to saftey reasons because it was the right thing to do,but there was very little information about what was going on.

I also think teams are more concerned about the TIME,MONEY and EFFORT that they invested in going to malaga and not the points/positions,we may now also have to train on 2 different field layouts for the next event(if that's what the millennium board decide)and im not sure how many training facilities have more than one current millennium field.

The only s**t that seems to happen is more money coming out of the players pockets again as i can't really see the millennium compensating any of the teams!!

I would even out the remaining games to multiple events. The last prelim game to be played at Bitburg, quarter finals in London, semis and finals at the last event. All the games would be played at the same layout that is used at that event. This way costs, time and effort would be minized for the teams.

If they do hold them underground then the players would moan that the lighting was better at one end of the field!

Mind you I could do a side line in night vision goggles so maybe not a bad idea!

I personally think the teams should cough up some money to help the Millennium out as they would have lost a load of cash this weekend and all the teams had to pay for was some flights, they would have stayed in cheap hotels and they only had to buy a couple of boxes of paint so they have spare cash. So come on let's have a whip around and help them out.

:D

HELP THE MILLENIUM OUT?

There are 16 teams in CPL 32 in Div1 and SPL. Thats 80 teams who on average probably play about 7000 euros per year for entrance fee.

7000x80=560,000 off entrance fees alone.

Then add the fact that there are an average of 10 player on roster and 3 pit crew, each paying 40 euro for a players pass.

That works out to 41,600 euros.

And then there's the 4 Diamond sponsors listed on the back of the players pass. Each one of them gives approx 150,000 euros to the Millenium

4x150,000=600,000.

So now we have roughly 1,151,600 euros that they are bringing in this year just from the top 3 Divs(the ones they cancelled). Do you really think the setups we've seen in the past would come anywhere NEAR to these figures? There's a fairly huge difference between the income and outcome in my opinion. Now the millenium has put the event on the beach to make MONEY. Everyone who has any experience with beaches knows that there is a good chance that wind will come through and when it does the beach is always VERY affected. Its not like the millenium didnt realize the wind could come. I mean last year the wind came by on sunday and ruined our semi-final game, the taller barricades were blowing at 45 degree angles and they had to stop the game to fix the M twice. That completely killed the competition and I know for the players waiting to contiune play, it killed the fluid idea of the match. So why risk it a second time? Why not just play in a valley? If you asked all the CPL SPL and Div1 players what they really wanted for their money don't you think most of them would want good fields, good marshalls, good turf in a flat location with minimal wind factor? This weekend was the Millenium's fault. As a minimum they should cover the expenses for the teams who had to pay flights hotels and food to be at the event. A return on the entrance fee would be fair, because I blatantly know they have breached the contract that they like to wave around in the air whenever a team doesnt show up. Sadly us paintball players are stupid will never form a union so that when **** like this happens we get compensated. Oh well.
