There are 71 locked teams not 80HELP THE MILLENIUM OUT?
There are 16 teams in CPL 32 in Div1 and SPL. Thats 80 teams who on average probably play about 7000 euros per year for entrance fee.
7000x80=560,000 off entrance fees alone.
Then add the fact that there are an average of 10 player on roster and 3 pit crew, each paying 40 euro for a players pass.
That works out to 41,600 euros.
And then there's the 4 Diamond sponsors listed on the back of the players pass. Each one of them gives approx 150,000 euros to the Millenium
4x150,000=600,000.
So now we have roughly 1,151,600 euros that they are bringing in this year just from the top 3 Divs(the ones they cancelled). Do you really think the setups we've seen in the past would come anywhere NEAR to these figures? There's a fairly huge difference between the income and outcome in my opinion. Now the millenium has put the event on the beach to make MONEY. Everyone who has any experience with beaches knows that there is a good chance that wind will come through and when it does the beach is always VERY affected. Its not like the millenium didnt realize the wind could come. I mean last year the wind came by on sunday and ruined our semi-final game, the taller barricades were blowing at 45 degree angles and they had to stop the game to fix the M twice. That completely killed the competition and I know for the players waiting to contiune play, it killed the fluid idea of the match. So why risk it a second time? Why not just play in a valley? If you asked all the CPL SPL and Div1 players what they really wanted for their money don't you think most of them would want good fields, good marshalls, good turf in a flat location with minimal wind factor? This weekend was the Millenium's fault. As a minimum they should cover the expenses for the teams who had to pay flights hotels and food to be at the event. A return on the entrance fee would be fair, because I blatantly know they have breached the contract that they like to wave around in the air whenever a team doesnt show up. Sadly us paintball players are stupid will never form a union so that when **** like this happens we get compensated. Oh well.
The Diamond sponsors pay 50,000 euro's each
There is price money which the fairies bring on the back of a unicorn
There is getting all the equipment there with dwarfs carry on there own!
The set up crew are all millionaires and work for free!
The ref's pay for there own hotels food flights and work for free, just for the love of reffing, infact one of them loves it so much he pays for the prize money all himself. He is there special ref!
Please note that the above is SARCASUM and not fact, a bit like all my other posts...........
Markie C............ You should know me better than to think I was giving Luke a hard time on purpose, I was as Mario pointed out being Sarcastic
Also I would go back and check your figures and workings out as there are some errors.
Now to be serious for a second.......... Yes it is annoying for the players, yes you did all spend a lot of money training and traveling and staying at the event. I get all of that.
Also the Millennium had to spend a lot of money to put the event on in the first place.
So both parties have spent money to go to an event that was destroyed by the wind. Did anyone know it was going to be that windy? I for one did not I looked at the weather report and it never said the wind would be that bad. So it really was beyond anyone's control.
Jimmy you are correct when you say that there where cracks in last years event, but when the sun shine everyone looks past that, yes with the bad weather the cracks showed up. But as yet have the Millennium ever got an event 100% right? If we look deep enough you will find fault with anything.
Look at the F1 this year that was stopped because of the rain. I doubt any of the spectators teams staff etc would have been compensated for an act of god, or bad weather whatever you want to call it. What about Wimbledon when a match is called off due to rain? Do the spectators get to go back the next day to watch, not that I have ever heard of they don't.
So my point is that it is annoying for EVERYONE concerned and there really is no way to keep everyone happy when there are so many factors involved.
Personally I see the solution as they just play the same field from Malaga then you guys don't have to train on a different field...... Simple solution......... Will they do it? That is something they will have to decide
