Coolio mate, whats the degree in?
Its called Games Cultures, and is primarily a video game design course though it also encompases the study of what games are and of how and why people play, whether that be call of duty, paintball or marbles.

And cheers pigeon yep every survey helps! almost got 100 filled in now! Perhaps just as interesting is the dialogue you are all having, definately making me think. Thankyou all.

You cannot stop people from using their freewill and cheating by expecting honesty in a game with NO rewards for it. All you can do to improve the credibility of the results is to bring in really good refs who balance games by punishing cheats. Unfortunately players do not want to pay for good refs, thus the zebra-monkey issue...

So if you're good at cheating then I suggest you carry on, because it may help you get results and prizes, and everybody loves results and prizes right?!! Obviously if you start getting caught you either suck at cheating or the reffing is improving...Either way, the player makes a decision to take a risk and if that risk always/usually pays off then there is a broader problem at large than the player himself.....as Buddah pointed out...

I really don't like cheating, though I'll admit to having done it once or twice in the early days of my playing....
These days, I hate it. I play a few times a year with rental groups, using my kit. If I think I've been hit, I walk - it gives the first time kids a buzz to knock out the "proffessional" (LOL!). Indeed, on days like that, I tend to play far more aggressively, and rarely make it to end of games.
It's Sup'air where it gets more difficult. I will walk whenever I KNOW 100% I've been nailed, and would never deliberately wipe. BUT, you get the odd borderline job - last round of KotH I was in back centre, and had to fill in when right corner went. As I slid in, I felt a couple of balls kit my heel. I tucked in, and waited for the Marshal to check, despite being sure I was out - he called me clean and I was able to make it down the snake, and we won. Cleaning up for the next game, it turned out there was paint all over my ankle.
So short version, I won't go out of my way to cheat - but at the same time I'm not going to go out of my way to call myself out on bordeline calls......
