Nope. Don't see the similarity of your comparison.
Racism is alive and well in Atlanta, and occupies many other southern strongholds. The elderly Black people still step down offa the pavement to let the white man pass. Segregation still exists in living memory, as do the Black Panthers, and then of course there's the assassination of Dr King, whom we remembered yesterday, just 50 years ago.
Did you read that somewhere?
There is definitely racism in Atlanta. But it is nothing like what you seem to suggest. As a matter of fact, it is completely the opposite.
For the record, I think Obama will be a good president. He says the things people want to hear and apparently motivates them. If that motivation gets them to stand up and do for themselves, then I'm all for it.
In the same breath, too many people blame past presidents for their personal shortcomings. People in the US need to take responsibility for what their personal decisions cause in their lives. Black, white, or other.
But, in reality, that ain't how we do things as of late. And if there is a president that some of these people cannot point a finger at (Obama), then maybe things will change.
I'm with Robbo. I like it when Tiger Woods says he isn't "African American". To me, that commands respect as a person and a professional. I don't like it that Obama, and more so his ardent supporters, claim that racism is such a disgusting thing, until it suits there purpose.
My biggest question, and Missy I would think you have insider info on this, is what in the hell are Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton gonna do for a living now? It seems to me that they became all but unemployable yesterday.
