I'm gonna agree with Kitty on this one: I doubt this dude is maliciously trying to deceive people in any way, but it seems pretty clear that he should have planned things a bit better, asked established tournament organisers for advice, got his name out, etc. Like most of the other posters here, I don't see how he could pull off what he's claiming to have organised. I might drag my UWE guys up to Cheltenham to get some first-hand experience of the outfit because anything I have to say at this stage is pure speculation, and as a wise man once said: "There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance - that principle is contempt prior to investigation"

Dev, it's all well and good quoting these sayings as long as they are pertinent, and although this one sounds grand enough, it is not.

The guys who tried to set this up, lied their frikkin ass off, they had zero chance of delivering what they were promising and as such, how can we trust them in anything?...Now that is a pertinent and relevant saying, yours was not mate.
And it's no good now saying, 'well they didn't mean to lie', any fool would know you couldn't deliver what they were saying and as such, it then falls into the category of 'deliberate and willful deception', hardly the ingredients for a professional acting promoter.

This guy is calling me up today and so, we shall see what he has to say for himself because i am pretty pissed off he used my site to talk bollocks and and in my eyes, attempted to defraud my members.

He ain't called me yet so I can't pass comment, he pm'd me to tell me had tried but didn't leave a message if he did in fact call me.
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and hope he calls me later today ..... we shall see what the man is made of if and when he calls.

Actually Shell ....The person who reports this would be the 'informant' and not necessarily the victim, I would have thought the victim would be the person/persons who were being targetted for the fraud.

Also, I was answering your point that stated you needed a victim before 'the police will touch it' and I think you'll find the new legislation will in fact, cover it, as long as there is intent, and in this sense, there does not have to be a victim, merely an intent to defraud one.

Now, whether it's provable or not in this case is academic because it's the principle I was referring to mate.

By the way Shell, if you witnessed me doing something illegal (not that I would ) would you arrest me?
Yes you are right I just explained it badly. This will be FRAUD BY FALSE REPRESENTATION Sections 1 and 2 of the Fraud Act 2006. In layman terms:
A person who dishonestly makes a representation which is untrue or misleading knowing that it is or might be untrue or misleading
intending to:
make a gain for themselves or another cause loss to another, or expose another to a risk of loss.

Proof! Evidence needs to be established.

If you were in her area, and she was on duty, Im fairly sure she would have to.
