Div. 1 ranking 2008 !

Okay so the 2008 season is over and we are left here with - in my oppinion - a totally wrong result in the over all ranking of division 1 !

Why ?

Well I´ll have to point fingers now as this is mainly concerning one team: Birmingham Bulldogs !

It´s partly also about the no-show teams (Hurricans, Cynergy) at the last three events as ALL of them has a saying in this overall ranking - due to teams not showing up a total of 18 free wins have been handed out to the "fortunate" teams being in the "right" pools. Sure some of them might have won anyway BUT every single point counts in the ranking, I doubt that every single game if indeed played had ended 4-0 !

What concerns Birmingham Bulldogs - well to first buy a spot, ref the first event (without fulfilling the demands!), then do poorly in the next 2 events AND then simply not showing up to the last 2 events is just beyond me !!!

I strongly hope the millennium AT LEAST will take away their reffing points, leaving them in the relegation zone and then keeping Bad Element in div. 1 - nothing else would be fair !!!!!!

And before anyone start shouting about it ONLY being about our own relegation - no it has nothing to do with that since this one point about Bulldogs´ reffing points MAKES no difference to our result this year, this is a matter of principle and a matter of me thinking it is darn unfair someone is being relegated for all the wrong reasons !

About the free wins handed out - well probably nothing to do about it really, but think about it for just one second: We have a LOCKED division 1 where not only 15 teams (out of 35) are handed a 1st place for reffing, we then also furthermore have a total of 18 free wins handed out to the teams fortunate enough to be in the "right" pools !

Don´t tell me this season has been fair on the div. 1 teams faithfull enough to put up with an entire season, attending every single event ?:(

I wonder if these teams will be demanded to pay the fine for not showing up to the events as contracted - or well simply loosing their spot, which can then be handed out to the next team in line ?!

it does make a farce if the millenium series wants a stable league then they shoud support all the teams who played all the events so in my opinion all the teams who missed an event should be seeded under all the teams whole played all year and the religated teams should be picked from these

I have no affiliation with the teams in question or any other team, and my post will probably get deleted...

However, commenting purely as a third party:

Blame the organisers not the teams.

For teams not showing up ?
Yes. From what i am aware an overly zealous roster lock is to blame for the teams you've mentioned not attendding events.
Based on the members of the teams i know, both bulldogs and cynergy would have done everything in their power to attend. Cynergy even contacted the millennium series in advance so that they could re-jigg the schedule.

As for the reffing situation, i was under the impression that the millennium made several spots available to purchase on the condition that the team reffed one event the Bulldogs' spot being one them. And while Bulldogs may not have fufilled the exact requirements they did not receive the full points, seem perfectly just to me.
...but hey, what do i know?

lol freddie im not one to raise to bait but this is a funny post

if u knew what justin and the rest of the team had gone through it would be alot more intresting to see your opinion then.

he has put blood sweat and tears into not only the team but into the site, which has gone balls up now that his main sponosor has been shunned from the paintball scene.

at the end of the day why not make an organisation to talk to millenium about this, could call it the international paintballs player union or IPPU for short.....

wait a sec.............

If the teams paid the entrance fee its up to them if they turn up to the field for there match or not, i cant see it helping there chances of winning but at the end of the day its up to them. To be honest if you qualify without going to one of the events you obviously have the ablity to be in the division.

As for the judging points, if you allow a team to get premoted using them you have to allow a team to dodge religation in the same way, bulldogs turned up and reffed (somthing i would never want to do) so you can not take away the points they earned from doing it so the only issue is missing matches and if there is a penalty for that alot more than two teams will be effected, for instance wolf city union missed a match at the first event.

In short reffing points suck, some teams droped some games and now some teams are religated, the scores have been anounced, live with it

So - the teams honestly blame millennium for them not being able to show up to the contracted events due to an "overly zealous" roster lock as someone put it... Which uh by the way had been official since before the season ? :D

How come then only 3 teams out of 83 did not pull through if in fact the roster lock rules were messed up ?

You guys to me are the funniest part in this thread so far ! Try understanding that I am NOT talking out of an egoistic point of view - quite the contrary !

Fine enough that some of you stick together, or stick up to your buddies or whatever - but honestly try and see the bigger picture here, and try and learn the fact that NO rules have been changed during the season - we all agreed to play 5 events and we all agreed to the roster lock, we all knew about it in advance !

Yes some teams have probably struggled with this roster lock BUT 32 out of 35 teams in div. 1 actually managed to pull through - so why should there be "softer" rules for those few teams NOT fulfilling the terms they agreed on and signed before season kicked off ?

And uh - that comment about IPPU - well at least the 5 of us tried doing something about it, what the heck did all of you do ? Support it - errrrrhm no wait a second how did that go again ?

One thing I do find wrong and hope Millennium change for next year, if having teams in a locked division ref in returns of ranking points !

BUT not showing up to events you already agreed to - that is purely the teams own fault, then they should have planned in advance OR realised they could not live up to the terms beforehand.

by that are you infering that Freddie hasnt because i can tell you your dame wrong simple as

and the ippu failed because hardly any could get there back sides in to gear to help or even support the idea

in the leage wants to be stable then keep the teams that are commited and turn up all the time and thin out the heard from the ones who are struggeling

or just kill off the roster lock for the 3rd biggest international league to lock 3 divisions when the 2 top leages are having trouble loacking the pro leages is lunacy

and reffing teams is rubbish millenium series actually put your hands in your pockets and pay for some good refs rather than players
