Yeah you're right Shelley we have Spadeadam down the road. I just didnt think I'd see the day when a Comanche hovers over. I'll certainly look into that and ask around. I've been very lucky to see various training exercises over the fells when I've been working on cottages. The Chinooks flying over are my favourite as they make the most distinctive sound but that stealth chopper was some seriously impressive kit. Thanks for the input anyhow folksies! :D

Those photos rock Jim, nothing wrong with that quality mate. Look sweet from where I'm sitting. I was very grateful to have my air show virginity taken by Kat last year (cheers Kat) and will defo be heading over to Sunderland again next month for the anniversary. Sure to be a fantastic day. Cheers again people! :)

Dudes can anyone in the know shed light on why a FAH-66 Comanche attack helicopter (Unsure of the UK designation) would be flying over my house up here in the middle of nowhere at 20:45 on a Sunday evening? I papped a brick when i seen it. Looked absolutely amazing! Its got a very distinctive sound too, I thought it was a small plane at first until i seen it.
Are you sure???

The RAH-66 Comanche program was cancelled in 2004. The funds earmarked for the purchase of 121 Comanches was to be diverted to the purchase of 790 Blackhawks instead. They pobably figured out if the only thing you going to shooting at is Toyota Hi-Lux Technicals, at a $120 million dollar each the stealth attack helicopter was a little too bling.

And I somehow doubt the UK government is going to start ordering em. With defence spending the way it is, we can expect to see the Sopwith Camel making a return as the latest air superiority fighter.

Fixed.

I'm guessing you probably sorted out the loan for 'em too...

I love airshows.
Seconded. I got to Farnborough a fair amount, and where I grew up there was an RAF base a mile away that had an air show every year. The station CO must have had connections because for a small base it gets some bloody big planes, used to get Red Arrows most years etc.

Nice pics too, no need to apologise.

I'm guessing you'd wet yourself if you saw this:

Jonny was about this time last year when andy went on a bike ride and him and dave found a load of them at Carlisle airport. Will just be exercises again, still quite cool :p

If I were him I'd rather be in a combat heli. But they wouldn't use a Comanche for transporting him anyway as it only has a crew of 2 and no passenger seats as far as I'm aware.
