The harder ones are actually more common stateside, like i said previously some local tourneys only allow them rather than the soft one to discourage people.

But having been a person who had to wear one they cripple your game, they are so big and although they fold they really restrict your momement. The manufacturers need to come up with a better design.

Can't agree more with you Russ, the main situation where you're most likely to get a bounce off your torso is when you've got a rotund back player running to his primary off the break. At that distance bounces are likely anyway, but put a vest on him and you have a very slim chance of freeing up that side of the field. Getting Gs early on is a big advantage, as is retaining players and getting them all to their primaries, and that extra bounce is going to make a huge difference if it means keeping a back player.

Ok you and a small few have bought into the hype and I am also sure that you have never had a bouncer or two.
We're not starry eyed teenagers who have been snared by the marketing men. I actively looked for something that offered protection after getting a row of bloody painful welts across my back at Campaign last year. The Proto didn't offer upper arm protection and then NPS sold out of the old Empire top, so I had to wait until the 08 range came in.

If you stood me and one of the, ahem, larger players from my team next to each other - me wearing a vest, them without, I can guarantee that they'd get more bouncers than I would, as I'm missing 2 inches of bouncy moob and 6 inches of belly - a 6% body fat ratio is a bitch sometimes. Maybe they should have some lipo before a game to ensure a level playing field?

I do see your point about your team mates but if some one wants to go on a lager and chips diet to assist in bouncers so be it because they will also balance that advantage out with how fast they get between each bunker.

The simple point is these types of kit are pushing the boundaries of fairplay.
