I’m not sure if this is the right place to put this.
Over the past year, more and more of us old skool guys seem to be getting back in to paintball, I’m talking about people from the ‘glory days’ of the 90s woodland Pro circuit and it feels like more and more people are wanting to see a return of tournament level paintball in the woods. At the sites that my friends and I have played at on a regular basis, we have seen a marked change in the way that ‘walk ons’ are playing the game and we are now seeing a far more aggressive and competitive game being played at these days. Now if this is down to us ‘old guys’ showing people that woodsball can be played with a more competition attitude or not, well I wouldn’t like to say.
As there is no real step up from playing walk on’s where do those who want a more competitive game go? Supair? That seems to be the only option at the moment. Now I’m not going to go in to a Supair Vs woodsball thread, that has been done to death. IMO both are valid parts of the same sport. What I am saying is there is a big gap in between that needs to be filled.
Now I know I’m going to ruffle a few feathers by saying this but it seems to me that there is no such thing as ‘Pro’ paintball in the UK anymore. We don’t have a team that can compete and win on a regular basis world wide. Now what is going on people? Back in the 90’ we had teams that could compete and win (Marshals and politics allowing of cause) at every major world tournament.
Could it be that some of the very valuable skills that are honed by the woodland game are being ignored or have been forgotten by those in the Uk ‘Pro’ Supair game?
Would the UK scene not benefit by seeing more competitive play in the woods as a stepping stone to the Supair movement?
Could a Woodsball and Supair tournament scene coexist along side each other?
How many for you would like to see a return of a tournament level of paintball back in the woods?
Discus please.
