I won't even pretend to know much about bottles or compressors, all I know is that I need to be able to have faith in my kit.

That's the main problem, not you in particular Kat but me as well and probably 99% of everyone else.

I own two hpa tanks and i know absolutely sod all about them, everyone says it's obvious not to put oil near the reg, why's it obvious? until i happened to read it on a forum it'd never even crossed my mind. lot's of people i know don't use forums so who tells them?

The only positive thing about this is me and the rest of my team are off to fatbobs asap to get some knowledge:) (i say fatbobs because it's the only place i know that does a course on air safety)

deepest sympathys to nige, hes a top bloke hope his hands heal fast so he can get back to drinkin coffee and ripping his gat (ideally at the same time)

one word bout this debate. leave it to the professionals let them come to conclusions and find a resolution, if its Means temporarily banning stakos from sites so be it, just let them do theyre jobs.

" and it's keka... not keko..." Sorry mate - typo

And yes I read your posts....

"If I were running a site and goggles kept falling off, I would stop using them until we figured out why"

That's my point they an not always blowing up! 3 incidents where at least one has been proven to be user error does not mean always or even regularly - How many fills do stako and similar bottles have every day/week?

Luke i think hit the nail on the head (which has been mentioned on numerous occasions also) Slow fills down AND educate ballers on the correct use of rigs and how to use air fill rigs, and maintain/keep clean tanks etc
Once is too many.
It's as simple as that.

15 years of ball and the first time I ever saw or heard of an air system doing this was when these tanks were released.

15 years of people who knew even less about HPA than we do now. ****ty fill rigs and dirty air and we still never saw anything like this.

I am all for education and changing things in the long term but for the short term, I want people to leave a paintball field after a good day with all their limbs attached.

I am not attacking Stako, just making a judgment based of recent events and evidence that suggests there is a problem.

It's up to them to prove to us that they are safe and they have not done that so far.

In the meanwhile why can't people be sensible and just not use them?

You can do all the course on air safety that u like the simple fact is oil has proberly been getting into air systems for years now and this has never happened before so oil is proberly not the only factor i remember years ago we used to grease the fill nipples and never did this happen once . its a combination of factors which cause this maybe oil, filling too fast , plastic liner . remove one and it may not happen but the for sure factor in all of this has been its happened only on stacko bottles which have a plastic liner i personaly have a stacko and like the light weight but am not going to risk using it again as i now no longer trust it and for the few ounces it saves i would rather have my hands and limbs in one piece and trust equipment which has been around for years with a proven safety record.

I understand what you are saying, but we have been here before with Stako in the Dock and they have proven that it wasn't their bottle at fault - so what now? - just keep not using them even though the issue might not be the bottle and keep asking them and Hpac to prove they are okay? Training, guidance and slower fills may have meant that with this incident we might have been saying "bloody hell, have you heard that a bottle blew up?!" and it would have been crossfire 1, Stako 1 - but due to the stage where the Stako one went pop it got major publicity.

So I wasn't saying you were right or wrong, more suggesting that at this moment I reckon slowing the fills down will substantially reduce the risk of "any" brand of bottle going pop instead of blanket banning them.

If once is too many (which is right) then once must be too many for the case of the crossfire bottle, or the other brand that had a recall - but i don't see pitchfork wielding villagers chasing them yet.. is there a future risk with those too?

Why can't we just wait and see what the reslut of the ongoing investigation will bring?

No point a guessing what has happened how it did happen...etc!

The case is been dealt with....

just be glad it did go the way it did and no one got hurt too badly!

Nige is on the way to a speedy recovery and that is all that matters.

If you are worried about your Stako bottle don't use it...

Oppy, I dont think anything was 'proven' about the first Stako explosion in Madrid as far as i am aware. What was thought is that oil was some how chucked into the mix, conclusions were made that the owner added oil to the fill nipple not from proof, but because a bottle of oil was found near by. Tim/Trevor, can you shed some light on this?

Keka is right, how many other systems apart from this 1 crossfire blowing up when filled have people heard about over the past 10/15 years? Then we have 3 Stakos in the space of a year..

This is no witch hunt, just conclusions based on fact. In my eyes these facts need to be PROVED wrong before these tanks are deemed safe once again.
