Wow... Just.... WOW!

Yesterday (edit: Saturday of course!) on the 5th of january at 18.38 SPL teams received a mail from the Millennium Board about the annual SPL meeting for the 2008 season - to be held on this coming sunday the 13th of january at 10.00 AM in Shiphol Airport, Amsterdam ?!

What are they thinking ??????

Less than 1 week to plan a trip to Holland ? This is even WORSE than last year, they really are getting their sh** together eh ?

There´s a letter attached which starts of by saying:

"We invite the teams of the Millennium Series SPL to the annually team owners meeting. Date and place has been decided already by the team owners meeting in January 2007."

Okay - so what about the teams that weren´t there (due to a short notice on that meeting as well!) ? What about the NEW SPL teams ? How on earth are they to know, when and where this meeting would take place ?

I am deeply deeply amazed and also a bit disgusted by this - seriously - is the millennium board even interested in having the team owners present at this meeting, by the looks of this my guess would be a big fat NO !

Here´s the rest of the letter:

Date: Sunday, January 13th 2008
Time: 10:00 – 14:00
Place: Amsterdam, Schiphol airport
Hotel: NH Schiphol Airport Hotel, Kruisweg 495, 2132 NA Hoofddorp, Tel: 31 020 6550 560
http://www.nh-hotels.com/nh/en/hotels/the-netherlands/amsterdam/nh-schiphol-airport.html

Purpose of the meeting is
1. To present the Millennium Series 2008 to the SPL teams
2. To discuss rules and regulations for SPL 2008
3. To listen to suggestions from the teams and to take votes on issues, where appropriate

Agenda, proposals, etc.:
All team representatives are invited to send suggestions, proposals, questions, and issues of importance to the SPL in the next days to me, so these matters can be included in the agenda. Be aware, time for our meeting will be limited, so we might not be able to deal with items you didn’t send in for inclusion in the agenda.

Representing a team:
From each team only one representative will be allowed to the meeting. Only team representatives present at the meeting will be allowed to vote, if there is a ballot. Each representative has only one vote, transferring votes to other reps will not be possible. If you send a team representative, which is not yet registered as team contact, please announce his name in advance to me by email.

Licence fee:
The licence fee for playing the MS SPL will not be raised, but stays the same: 7000€ plus UK VAT.
Like last year you may choose to pay the licence fee in up to three instalments (will be specified in licence agreement), but you have to pay a first instalment of 1500€ + VAT till January, 15th.

If you have any questions how to handle VAT in the best possible way for your company, please refer directly to the MS financial officer Mr. Stephen Baldwin, at abbottsmead@aol.com .

If you have any questions on MS account numbers for varying currency, please refer directly to the MS secretary Paula Nicol at paula.nicol@millennium-series.com .

Attention: You will be sent a link next week for registering your team ownership via an online registration form. Online registration and payment of the first instalment is mandatory. If no registration and/or payment has been received, your spot defaults back to the MS and the board will get another team to fill out the 16th spot.

The 2007 season of the MS CPL and SPL was a successful showcase for the sport of paintball in Europe. Following public demand, the MS will now go the next step and will offer the M7 format to Div1 as well. All the top teams in Europe will compete in the MS, generating awareness and additional promotional opportunities for teams and series alike. We want to cooperate with you, the teams, wherever possible and are looking forward to an exciting season.

See you in Amsterdam,

For the board of the Millennium Series

Is there really anything more to say ?

I agree it is daft to send it a week before hand, but, and there always is........ what if it was just human error for it going out late, you know someone made a mistake, god forbid but it does happen.

Also I remember reading somewhere or hearing that at last year’s meeting they had already set this date last year and all the players/ teams that were at the meeting got a copy of the minuets, so they would have known about this date. But I think you would only of got a copy if you were at the SPL meeting.

Just a couple of ideas :)

Human error - quite possibly - but then again it´s 2 years in a row it´s gone down like this, I would rather call it "millennium board error"! ;)

And yes that´s exactly as I questioned in my first post, they DID plan this meeting last year (which actually only makes this worse) - but as we all know that meeting was also announced way to late, which led to almost NO teams present. PLUS what about the 6 new SPL teams ? They had no chance of knowing either...

All I´m saying is, that if (when!) they planned it so long ago, why wait till the very VERY last minute to announce it ?

Yes you are right leaving it till the last possible day is crap, however I would look further into if it was one person or the millennium themselves, because if it is one person who has screwed up then they should be bought to task about it. Thats my point.

Well in my humble oppinion the whole millennium board should be brought to task about it - after all they DO have a responsibility, ALL of them! Isn´t that the whole point about the structure of the Millennium Series ? :)

Yes they should be bought to task if they are all to blame for it. But if they have done there bit and sent it out to a person to distribute to the teams and they have left it until now then surley that person needs to be bought to task before you kill all the millennium? :)
