True enough Disco but we trade on here to play paintball,we don't play paintball to trade on here.
We would all love to play everyday but it's not possible,so we spend some of our time conversing with like-minded people.
The trouble with selling via P.M's is that the deals can become more underhand whereas if they're visible we are able to look out for ourselves and eachother,I understand about there being too much chit-chat on the classifieds but it's usually harmless banter..:D
Never a true word spoken , I would rather keep sales in the thread . Unless we can get 500 Pm's as 200 is not quite enough..:D

Just an idea, how would you guys like a 'Talk to a mod' section where you can post up your grievances?

E.G.

  • This user is causing me problems
  • This user is a scammer
  • This user is sending me threats
  • Why has my thread been deleted
  • Why was I banned
  • This user is breaking the rules somehow

And so on. It should focus on CONFLICT RESOLUTION as opposed to petty arguments, but it will also let other members know about the troublesome users on here as well. Of course it would be up to the other mods too you understand :)

Okay i know that paintball is a mechanical sport and you need a certain amount of equipment and gear to get started, and having a site which enables people to buy second hamd is great, i myself have bought and sold on this site. But i think there is both an element of trading here to play paintball and okay maybe not playing paintball to trade on here but it can come close, im sure everyone has wasted money on kit which they dont infact need to play paintball, ill put my hand up and admit to that aswell but i do think that the classifieds section has contributed to the demise of UK paintball.

Selling via pm's would yes be alot less public but if you buy and sell on here seriously you have feedback and i think there are very few people buying and selling on the classifieds that dont have a feedback thread. If they dont have anyone who can vouch for them then its in your hands, maybe meeting up to buy an item would be the only way of a safe transaction.

This forum helped me alot when i was first starting out and im not targeting any other aspect of this site apart from the classifieds, if you want to chit chat then go ahead its normal but theres just to much unessecary buying and selling going on. I understand maybe people dont intend on playing this 'sport' as seriously as others but please for the love of god don't make a mockery of this sport, i know way to few people in paintball who i seriously see as players for the rest sadly i see them as buddy hungry paintball kit magpies who love anything shiny.

It'd be interesting to see how someone would post "why was I banned", when he's been banned.;)

Thats why I said only a Mod can add a name Buddha. Like you said it is easy to slate someone if you dont like them. There would have to be sufficient proof forwaded to a mod so they can decide if a name goes on.
Like you said about the selling, If people send before payment is recieved that becomes thier problem :)

Ps. Jack, headbanging forgotten as far as I am concerned mate :)

But therein lies the problem. What's evindence? Do you know how easy it is to forward fake PM's?

I like spinach
See how easy that is?

So only when people start sending screen grabs it may be viable.
Personally I prefer Tendring's plan.

Disco I have enjoyed reading your post you come across as angry or passionate,I'm not judging you in anyway before you get defensive:D.
Unecessary buying and selling,I can't see that, who would buy kit on here that they never intend to use,you may be right in regard to a small section but the majority of people on here play and they equip themselves accordingly.
When you say contributed to the demise do you mean the actual sport or the revenue produced for retailers?,if the revenue then I agree;but the sport no.
November last I helped 8 new players start playing they felt they were only able to do so because of the excellent secondhand market, now they've decided they like it they are looking to upgrade to newer equipment, the markers being the only secondhand items they bought, that seems a sensible approach...p.s my marker ain't worth a t055 now:D

Im definately alot more passionate, but there is a tad of anger, not directed at all to anyone in particular. As for the demise of UK paintball im not an indusrty person so i dont walk that walk or talk that talk.

Lets just put it this way becuase this is how i saw it a year or 2 ago. Shiny new guns coming onto the market, lets say at the time i have Shocker maybe, everyone on the forums is talking about how cool and good these new guns are, now instead of spending money improving my game i start to save for one of these new guns. Kit plays a large part in paintball but i personally think that the amount of kit that people have gone through definately out weighs that persons need for simply a gun, mask, tank, loader and suitable clothing. I think i would probably be right in saying around 50% of classifieds users have had more than say maybe 3 guns in one year and to what point?

What i am frustrated about is that maybe if instead of ploughing this money into kit you put more money into playing every weekend for the whole year, rain or shine. People are always saying i want to progress in paintball be the best i can, half these people waste money on kit that they probably dont need.

Ive only really be playing seriously for around a year and i bit but before that i was one of these kids (not only kids, some are adults) saying i play paintball when in reality i played once a month and was buying ****e that i didnt need and saying i cant play becuase i have no money.
