Aggressive playing and aggressive behavior.

CONTROLLED aggression is what it's all about, this is a positive thing.
Unfortunately some people can't or won't separate the positive aspects of aggression and the desire to win from the negative aspects of allowing aggression to control them.
My definition of controlled aggression is to be able to motivate yourself and become "hyped", to basically kick in the "Flight or Fight" reaction, with maturity or training you can get the positives from this eg. quicker reactions, more energy better mental focus while still being in control mentally, without the training or maturity people become unable to control there actions because the panic/adrenaline is basically controlling them.

Throwing guns will get you a ban for the rest of the event your playing at least if not the next event.
Hopefully tournament organiser will crack down in 2008 on unsportsmanlike behaviour (shouting at refs and being a prick) which will recieve a ban on the day at least and in some circumstances the next event. And also shooting with milicious (sp) intent which again results in the same.
It really does go on the ref unfortanetly the majority do let the players get away with it as they aint either
a)got the balls to stand up to the player due to intimidation etc,
b) havnt got a clue what unsportsmanlike conduct and shooting with milicious intent are (shouting and being aggressive towards refs, players etc and deliberately bonus balling someone)
c) think its the norm.
I was at a small event recently when a player got B'balled and I heard the other team going on that the bonus ball rule was at least 20 broken shots on the player (never heard this one in my time as a ref variations but not this one) but as they were playing millenium rules there was no such thing. Unfortanately they found it very funny. (it was a kid playing for his first that was bonus balled as well)
Its down to the refs, ultimates and organisers to crack down on this. We will probably get whinged at for a couple of months (just like the 1-4-1 rule) but it will calm down and you guys might enjoy ball a bit more.
It is also down to you lot, stop throwing your dummys out of your prams, being pre madonna pricks and grow up. You might get better reffing that way as not all the refs will walk away. Even i am contemplating cutting my reffing considerably its gettig to the stage of is it worth doing for the grief as the pay aint worth it once costs are taken into account.

I've played in many aggressive sports but in a combat styled game, playing WITHOUT some sort of aggression will just get you pounded. You have to play for your team but you also have to play for the situation you are in. If you are in a one on one, you need to KNOW that you are going to win, doubt breeds doubt.
When you take aggression out on a person that you think you might have shot and the ref calls it against you, you need to be the bigger man and just take it, just like they do in other sports. With the added manly pursuit of fireing guns at people, outsmarting people with great plays and popping someone from a few yards away, testosterone will, and SHOULD, play a part in what you are doing. What people need to understand is where to draw the line with where and how they are focusing their aggression.

I have been called 'over aggressive' and even 'vicious' buy some people (no names). I am a forward and also a firm believer that aggression wins games and then tournaments. I have been accused of over shooting whilst bunkering, I play to win and my game plan is to always get upfront and in the oppositions faces. If people can't take being shot up then they shouldn't play the sport! I am all for being courteous and shooting up their pack but sometimes it can be quite hard to get every shot on target with adrenalin pumping and running and gunning.

Aggressive behaviour is different; I don't go out to purpously hurt people and I am not a malicous guy but a bunkering is a bunkering. I don't care who you are or how good you are, to me you are just another enemy player.

aggression is a good thing in any sport but it's a skill which needs to be mastered.
i agree with the vast majority of that, the only thing about the malicious intent is that, yes refs of your standard would be able to make the right decision, however less experienced refs may not. For example if im shooting someone, im gonna keep shooting them until either they signal they are out, a ref signals they are out, or i am 100% sure they know they have been hit and will not play on. If someone does play on, for any number of reasons i will keep putting paint into them until one of the above three actions happens, whether that takes 5 or 100 balls. I aint prepared to pay my money then get banned because someone played on, i had to light them up and a less experienced ref says i was shooting with malicious intent. That is the only time i would ever kick off at a ref, 1-4-1 me for bonus balling, fairy snuff, id probably be a bit pissed off but i wouldnt take it out on the ref as, after reffing myself for half this year, i know how hard the job is, but banning me would get me really pissed of, i would never get violent but i would shout alot
But yeh apart from that i 100% agree
