aggressive tactical play = fine

abusive behaviour or for examples sake shooting me in the back coz i just mugged you should = either repercusions from the refs or a sharp slap in the face from your team mates

pfft did you just copy and past my comment from the original thread :D:p

Would that be the one that was deleted as it was c**p!!!! :):p:)

Maybe if more people thought like us there would be more toys left inside the prams than outside!

A level head is a far better attribute to have at any time in any sport.

Aggression leads to rash behaviour, and even worse a smack in the mouth if you get aggressive with the wrong person. there is always someone bigger and badder out there. I fought in martial arts tournaments around the country for many many years, and always found that the overly aggressive fighters (we call them players but whatever) were never the winners. ok they might take you by surprise, and score a few points off you in the beginning, but any level headed fighter will tell you that it is easy to pick points off people towards the end of a fight when their aggression has worn off, and they have knackered themselves.

What do you class as aggression though? someone who makes the snake off the break isn't being aggressive, just very fooking quick. if a team moves up the field very quickly it is not necessarily aggression, but good team work and a solid game plan.

a "hard" and "aggressive" team might have been more successful up to now where it was only a matter of one game being won or lost at a time. moving milleniums into the SPL/CPL style of play, it is all going to be about the teams with the better game plans overall. aggression will only get you so far, but the teams with their heads screwed on will always come out on top.

I think one way refs can make life easier all round is by using clear and consistent signals for eliminations; it's hard to hear a ref shouting he's out when your and other guns are ripping all around you and so a nice clear signal is a big help, plus makes it hard for players to say 'Sorry mate, didn't hear the call. The other thing is to get off the damn field, whilst you may run into a stream staying behind the bunker instead will lead to extra hits or bunkerings in error, followed by much drama:rolleyes:
As for aggression, the aim of all martial arts is to combine absolute aggression in the contest but at the same time to remain detached and in complete control. What we see in paintball a lot of the time is the aggression without the control, and it's those players that then have a tantrum when things don't go their way. As for overshooting when bunkering etc, well, it's the same deal; an aggressive bunkering move doesn't have to be followed by fifteen shots up someone's back and anyone who says it does needs to work on their game. A really good player can charge up the field with great energy but still be in control when they get where they're going.

There is a difference between looking/playing aggressive and acting aggressive.

Killer instinct is one thing, being a retarded violent person with a tendancy to scream/hit someone is another.

One gets you applause for good gameplay, the other will earn you a ban or a broken nose but there will always be people who cannot distringuish between the two.

Throwing guns will get you a ban for the rest of the event your playing at least if not the next event.

Hopefully tournament organiser will crack down in 2008 on unsportsmanlike behaviour (shouting at refs and being a prick) which will recieve a ban on the day at least and in some circumstances the next event. And also shooting with milicious (sp) intent which again results in the same.

It really does go on the ref unfortanetly the majority do let the players get away with it as they aint either

a)got the balls to stand up to the player due to intimidation etc,

b) havnt got a clue what unsportsmanlike conduct and shooting with milicious intent are (shouting and being aggressive towards refs, players etc and deliberately bonus balling someone)

c) think its the norm.

I was at a small event recently when a player got B'balled and I heard the other team going on that the bonus ball rule was at least 20 broken shots on the player (never heard this one in my time as a ref variations but not this one) but as they were playing millenium rules there was no such thing. Unfortanately they found it very funny. (it was a kid playing for his first that was bonus balled as well)

Its down to the refs, ultimates and organisers to crack down on this. We will probably get whinged at for a couple of months (just like the 1-4-1 rule) but it will calm down and you guys might enjoy ball a bit more.

It is also down to you lot, stop throwing your dummys out of your prams, being pre madonna pricks and grow up. You might get better reffing that way as not all the refs will walk away. Even i am contemplating cutting my reffing considerably its gettig to the stage of is it worth doing for the grief as the pay aint worth it once costs are taken into account.
Lets wait and hope.

God dam it why are you lot sounding like a bunch of fcuking girls.

This nation will never move on if all you hear about is this crap.

Its a game with guns.
Did someone say Russians? Did they say Joy? How aggressive (in behavior) is Dynasty, really? The lang is very passionate, but not aggressive. I think we need passion to 'move on', not aggression.

my take is that aggressive playing style (always moving up, doing stuff fast and taking opportunities for muggins and run-throughs) doesn't have to be linked with aggressive behaivour (although you do need adrenaline which is linked (im not sure how much)), and in fact aggressive behaivour results in the opposite of improvement, it leads to grudges, fragmentation, negativity. Passion is what drives people to do great things.
