I think what he's saying is that in order to get the best out of 5 7 and 8 then you have to forget about 1. The best location, prizes and atmosphere will cost money, a lot of money, and you can forget about keeping entry to a minimum price.
thanks

Ahhh i get ya

I had thought about the cost (to the player) and when £50 came up and did think that was a bit unrealistic. I fully get the point now and fully agree with.

But you have to find the fine line of, what a baller will pay and how much an amazing event will cost.

If you put on the best tourney in the world but charge too much then your kicking yourself in the nutz.

£500/600 a team should do it.

Millenniums cost more (except M5) and teams should really be taking a minimum of 7/8 players, which will share the cost out...especially if it's X-ball stylee which seems to be what the majority want nowadays

And it's a balancing act across the divisions, unless you only want the top flight teams to play, you need to provide a division that costs little enough that the smaller teams can afford to play but high enough that you're not losing money. £50 per player *might* be acheivable for a reasonable sized squad in the bottom division, but that would have to rise exponentially right up to the pro division.

And then, are you going to waive the entry fee's for any teams to get the ball rolling? Missy pointed out in another thread that he doubt's Dynasty have ever paid entry into an MS event (atleast I think that's what he said, apologies if I've misquoted).

Because that's another cost to make up...

The PA costs £500 to enter a team if i remember rightly. Now i love the PA and this isnt taking anything away from the PA at all. But the PA never claims to be an amazing one off event. It has 3 or 4 events throughout the year which are all laid on very well and very organised.

My point is wouldnt you pay more than you do at a normal UK series event if you were attending a one off, special, event to which teams from around the globe enter?

Missy is a she

And how does letting in a couple of teams free cost anything?
Oppurtunity cost maybe...but no real cost - so long as enough teams play to make the organisers a small profit, then there's nothing to worry about

Say you charge £2000 entry for the pro division and you let 4 teams play for free. That's £8000 'cost'. You haven't paid it out, but it's still a reduction in potential profit.

And yes, I must remember that Missy is really a she. sorry.

By the looks of the threads on the PA, it's got more going on than the Millennium's has

Depends how big the team was - you've got hotels/food/paint on top of all that.
I wouldn't wanna be paying a £700+ entrance fee if i was in a team with only 7 players. £100 each, plus a natural disadvantage from a lack of players...wouldn't be worth the money. I wouldn't wanna pay just to watch for the last day or two...

By giving Dynasty free entry to an event i would guess you would make that back my other teams entering because they are there.

I can definatly see the point in attracting teams with bigger teams and also waivering (sp) the costs of getting the bigger teams there.

but if you give Dynasty free entry, do you give Joy free entry?

I can see certain teams attracting more than others but hopefully a team for example like menace would want to step up to the plate and challenege teams like dynasty. So not only are you attracting the smaller teams, also the big dogs in europe.

You wouldnt want to pay £100 even if it was the event of the whole paintballing year?
