Markie, right now any suggestions would be mostly speculation and those who likely could offer the best guesses aren't likely to do it in public forum.
But yes, it is an interesting subject. Kinda.
He's right Markie.

If you rephrased it to which team might struggle in the off season due to all sorts of reasons from player discontent to owner apathy to $$$ you might get some people venturing some names.

But for now, I doubt anyone with any knowledge will bite.

And hell might freeze over......but it seems all the top companies are tighting their belts, I reckon only the very top flight will be sponsored next season.could spell the end of every 4th div team having a deal with this gun and that paint.

Its been out of control for a while, the criteria for "sponsorship" has been if you buy 7 guns you are in.Maybe teams will need to earn the deals?

A lot of the "sponsorship" packages are really nothing more than incentive discounts on product. I know it feels good to say "I'm sponsored by Brand X" but I don't consider that as true sponsorship, although . Sorry guys, but sponsorship implies financial support not just a discount.

For the teams that really are sponsored, I suspect a shake up is coming or at least a tightening of the belt. I don't know from where but there are lots of rumors. Still I doubt anything will change until the end of the season unless it's a catastrophic failure, like we saw with Hybrid/Legacy/Bob Long and LTZ.

And if Nike or Coke wanted to get into sponsoring paintball - yeah, they could easily blow away most existing sponsor packages. Their marketing budgets alone are more than the gross value of most paintball companies.

The NPPL TV shows will help. Corporate paintball showed large spikes during the quarters previous Paintball shows have aired (a phenonomon they didn't appreciate until it was missing). If the (bought and paid for)NPPL show does well companies will be more inclined to continue thier sponsorship deals within that league, which leaves pro teams that don't play the NPPL, and everyone else. Everyone else probably subsidises thier own play, and it should not be a huge impact for them unless they lose help on paint.

Also, teams who have more successful and promotable sister/stable teams would worry, or anyone at the bottom of the league.
That should narrow it down.

US companies will cut back in Europe first, because its less hassle and they don't get as much grief cutting people they will never meet.

So what teams will struggle then and what will make it apparent over here.

I am just thinking aloud here because of what i have read about the millenium as well if numbers drop now then wont it be more apparent next year when big or semi big teams start losing stuff ???
