I completley agree there, these big games are about fun, you can't really take them seriously, 500 a side, it's obvious it isn't competative, if your being a sore looser about it and moaning that the side you were playing for didnt win, don't play big games!

However i do not agree on that, my team have gone into many games outnumberd 3/1 and still come out on top! the North did have many top Scenario teams on their side, these teams when they all work together prove difficult to beat even with large amounts of numbers! and when some of these teams combined (which did happen) over the course of the day, it gave everyone else a boost of confidence, with a big charge of many good scenario teams and highly confident players behind them, the opposing side would quickly fall! Besides, it was n't a big scrap in one area all day, there was different size groups all over the large playing area, and with the scenario teams having a better idea what to do in situations, it meant the north came out on top of many battles! yes the north had another 80 or so, but team of 20 working together like a team could easy hold off 3/1 odds!

And after reading things about you robbo (in PGi), you'd know that being outnumbered doesn't nessaserily mean anything

MY little rant!
Ion-Robbo, when you get into it with me, you gotta make sure you do a couple of things; firstly, you gotta know what you are talking about and secondly, you need never to misquote me to make your point.
I'm afraid you are guilty of both mate.

You indulged yourself by quoting one half of what I wrote thereby losing its context. I qualified my statement of saying teams who had the larger number will win by predicating it on the notion of all other things being equal.

Now, with all other things being equal, the team with the most players must win, if you argue against that, you will be wrong with no room for ambiguity to rescue you. Now, please do not separate that statement out to try and score points off me coz I promise ya, you ain't gonna be winning that many points from me :)

I'll admit, it was fun yes, a lot of fun, so much in fact, I just wrote 6 pages in this coming month's PGi about it all ........ hmmmm, me doing an article on scenario ball .......eeeeewwwwww, strange but true and you'll have to buy the magazine to see what I wrote :)

My 'hint', Robbo, (although i thought it was blatant) is that you should play another scenario game soon, hence the link to Niall's Time Wars game in Oct. As you said yourself after the game- you have realised the point of a scenario game is to have fun - something that disappeared from high level tourney play some time ago.

yeah right ... you turned up with 80 more people, yet still couldn't get enough people in the field between 12-14:00 to stop the south penning you back in your own safe area.

We haven't had lunch breaks down south since the 1980s ... we have to work for a living down here you know in order to subsidise workshy northerners and the scottish socialist republic ;-)
