Had a great day, but was a bit dismayed at Cape Town. Have to agree that their was no way with the amount of paint being thrown that no-one was getting hit. Well done to the North for winning, but maybe it would have been different if you had actually played by the rules... i.e. your hit your out... not your hit.. oh well carry on becos this bit is important to stay in....
From what I saw in Cape Town mate, marshalls were pulling armbands left right and centre off everyone who was shot, and the ones who stayed in weren't shot....

There were plenty of medics there as well, plus more people constantly coming to help.

Ya know what, developing strtegies for these big games is so 'kin easy because for the most part, the ones that are presently used are invariably bull****.

Big games are all about the numbers game, Nelson worked this apsect of conflct out years ago, and because both sets of players are randomly talented, I'm afraid it all comes down to the correct allocation of how many and where, the rules of conflict then take over and determine winners.

If I knew on Sunday morning what i know now, the South would have won and Ledz's (Blofeld's) pussie would have been smoked alive.........

PS lw2309, care to take a look at Frosty's post above ...I'll accept the apology in PM form :)

At Cape Town when you and a few others are throwing tons of paint against four guys who are obviously getting hit and arent walking...... hmmmm.... well.....

Possibly I'm being a bit biased against the Proud North here, but why? Well earlier in the day one North guy ran to a very small bunker and got tagged straight away by my mate, but played on. He subsequenlty got my mate who rightfully ripped his armband off and walked off, grumbling under his breath. I then got the guy once, twice, lots, and he was still there. So I thought if that was the way you want it, full ramping just continued to light him up until a marshall noticed and said come on mate off you go to him. He was orange and standing in a lake of paint by the time I'd finished. Maybe one bad apple but frankly just not cricket.

same happened with a south player mate. he was hunkered in behind the netting between moscow and london. i snuck to a nearer piece of cover, popped a few into the net, he stood to return fire over the net and had his hopper and gat painted orange for the bother.....some other southerner hit me from the side, i stood, removed my band and walked........mr. orange - despite me yelling at the top of my voice - played on.......

it happens in big games. there are just those people who feel the rules aren't made for them. there's not much we can do about them, but it leaves a nasty feeling when you have the decency to walk yourself......

....then again it may have been different if the marshall ten feet away had been any use.......

Marcus, unfortunately there are dickheads on both sides who disregard rules, wipe/play on and crank up velocities ... at least most of the people were there for a good time ... and what a good time it was :D

Yeah, I suppose I'm a litte sore cos I gave 110% on the day and we still lost... both teams were probably acting exaclty the same, having a few bad apples in the bunch which did leave a little bit of a bad taste in the mouth.

Funny really but at our local site one gentleman is known for wiping, so in between games some of the guys went in the toilets, nicked the loo rolls and before every game for the rest of the day placed one of the rolls on the end of his barrel to take out with him on the field. He saw the funny side, but still. Maybe the marshalls could give an honoury loo roll to the most consistent wiper of the day!!

Absolutely brill day though, well done to the North, but look out next year we're coming to get you!!!

I don't often get stuck in on these forums but after the Big Game shame not to aye :D

Anyway... like already said there were plenty of people wiping.. saw it from my own perspective... painted one geezer orange to match his armband (he should thank me... matching gear and all) and he still didn't go out even tho he had to wipe his lens several times just for the priviledge of getting another coating... but i'm sure people are people and it works same on both sides... and to be honest that was one of the best moments of the day.. not often you can open up on someone like that :-D so my thanks to the North for that one. (That was my best moment bit by the way lol)

In short the North were great.. they played well .. played fair and were the best North side since the event started in my opinion... Last year i truly think the South were robbed.. but this year you just plain played better and even though we had a legend playing I think maybe at the end of the day we let him down.. he did his bit and got stuck in and even made the most gracious speech of recball history lol - good on yer Robbo!!!

So Cheers to Warped Cheers to Robbo, cheers to the North for a great game, cheers to the weather for yet again threatening and not delivering rain until I got in my car to go home.. but mostly cheers to the marshalls for some pretty decent work being where and when it counted and using from what I saw excellent discretion at point of play... NICE ONE! must be frustrating as hell seeing the fun being had and having to ref..

One note tho weren't we outgunned numbers wise? Seems to be an increasing trend and i'm kinda worried that the continual losing may be putting Southerners off coming and encouraging more Norterners.. may get a but like shooting fish in a barrell and no real sport... hope that doesn't happen but worth sparing a thought or two on for anyone that has any influence in these areas.

oh and that Northern Git ;) in a trench that shot my ASS while me back was turned at point blank range .... nice one... teach me to get complacent

Cheers all and on to next year or star gate..
