Mikey theres this that and the other that is going to effect this potentail league, but i just think that its to risky this could kill UK ball at the roots and all youll have is punters and pros and no imbetweens which most of us are  , everything is on the edge of the knife if you go though with it. Yes Uk ball needs a change to make it grow, but we dont have enough to fall back on if it doesnt work. Its like FIFA saying lets use rugby balls to play football or lets have 10balls at once just to make it a bit more fun(really bad comparison but u might see what i mean). If it aint broke dont fix it.

Thats the point, it is ****ing broke!

If we carry on thinking its not realisitic, then we'll never get anywhere.

To the peeps who have asked about people who play for fun or people who are new teams.

Imagine this.

The "one" league could have from KOTH to pro teams playing it.

combining(sp) all that the uk offers which isnt much at the best, into one.

Then and only then will you see the scale of uk ball, where we are at, what type of teams we have.

To be honest as i write this i am thinking to myself should i really get myself too deep, as (and this is my true honest opinion) i couldnt careif uk ball progresses or not. I'll continue to train in europe and play in europe.

Now dont take that the wrong way, as per this thread i'll do all that i can too help, if i can do anything at all.

But i see more each day why sometimes pete comes across likes he's given up on uk ball.

but what about the players / teams who aren't intrested in a single league and are quite happly playing in there local events once a month are they going to be sacrificed for the greater good of the few?
As I pointed out in my earlier post, it's perfectly alright for a smaller circuit, in the form of regional leagues, to exist alongside a high profile national one. It would in fact feed the top league from the bottom up. Ideally the regional series would be run by the same organisation as the national league.

Pete, quick questions for you mate.

If 85% of the pa teams said we arent playing another leg until we play under full millenium ruling, in your opinion what do you think would happen?
As pointed out by others before me, that won't happen. I don't if you've been around long enough, but some great initiatives, such as the European Players' Association, have met their demise courtesy of that wonderful phenomenon called apathy.

Interesting to see that just Russ has replied to this thread, neither Wendy nor Syd has, yet. Not that I hold that against any of them.

From my point of view, lowly as it may be, the majority of teams are happy with regional leagues as they stand, with the better teams from these leagues aspiring to Millenniums, or the better players aspiring to teams which play these events.

From what I can see, Syd is the organiser doing most to fall in line with the Millennium format in the UK, please take the time to check out the NSPL forums, especially his requests for feedback on what players/teams would like for the next season:
http://www.southwestpaintball.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3758
and the developments he is announcing for 2007:
http://www.southwestpaintball.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3898
Add to that the change in format for the last Heaven’s Gate to a 3-day event (a la Millennium) and the continuation of this format for 2007.

While I commend what Mikey is doing here, opening up debate on the subject, this should really be a debate for team managers/captains to be entering into having first discussed it with their team. After all, some of us (as individuals and teams) have no problem with paying for our kit, travel and entries etc., while others really struggle.

Perhaps, a reincarnation or the Pro Tour, with solid industry support and backing for the best teams from the top of each league and the UK Pro teams is another way forward. However, for the industry to consider this it would need to have some payback for them, i.e. support from the paintball community, attending and buying products from their trade stands, you don’t get something for nothing! Therefore, those not playing would need to travel to the venue in order to support the players and the trade to make it all worthwhile.

:)

there would be no point at all to doing one league

in america people travel cross country to do PSP and NPPL, and not all of them are pros.

yet we all know brit ballers wouldnt bother travelling for an event because it would be too far

pretty much sums uk balling up really. 300 miles to america is a state. and they travel that to play the inter state leagues. 300 miles to us is half the country maybe more. we cba to do that many miles...

edit: im not knocking it. id be up for it in a second. heck im only 17 and id help organise the friggin thing. just wouldnt work with the people's attitude

Not a totally fair comparison Cookie. Even though the attitudes that I've seen in European paintball sometimes make me shake my head in disbelief, you can't compare the travel over here with that of the US.
First of all, most of the lower divisions' teams in the NPPL for example are from the state or surrounding states (please correct my if I'm wrong Baca or Missy). Also, travel is much much cheaper in the US. Even though US residents are bitching and moaning about gas prices, it's still a quarter of what it costs here.

I don't think you realise just how easy and cheap it is to travel in the states, my mate lives in detroit and he'll fly to the mountains one weekend for skiing and then to the coast for sunbathing the next.

"Petrol is so CHEAP, and they use planes like taxi's", it takes me 2.5 hours to make the 50 miles to the start of the M1 on a friday night?

If i could get around the UK as easily as they do in the states then i'd be doing events all over the UK, but the reality states that i have a life outside of paintball and due to the crap road and rail infrastructure in the UK, phrohibits major road trips on a regular basis
