i think the other problem you have is 10 to 20% see this as a sport to the rest it is a hobby, it is possible that you could in fact stifle the UK paintball scene with one league.

Those players who wish to take it seriously will eventually be picked up by teams with the same mind set and end up playing at a level they wish.

The rest will continue to play there once / twice a month quota and then get on with the rest of there lives, the like of Wendy / russ and syd provide a service currently to everybody, why would you potentially throw away 80/90% of paying cutomers to appease 10/20%

Its a great idea in theory, but wouldn't i don't think work in real world practice

Ok Mikey - let me point a couple of things out to you...

  • PA use ramping and are going 'X-ball'
  • UKM use semi only and use the 'standard' format

Which rulebook (no pun intended) do you use?

The only way you are going to get a single-style league is if a corporation of some sort puts up a lot of money to start it. It would have to be completely independent from the main 3, have it's own rulebook/format and have enough financial backing to not be 'just another tournament'.

Of course, the corporation are going to want some profitable income from this - so there would need to be paying spectators at the very least.

Unless you win the lottery anytime soon - and don't mind losing a couple of million - then it simply won't happen. Shame really.

I think that we need one league but it needs to be brand new and we need a body to govern it first.

We need a reff governing body as well and we need a player one also.

It needs to be totally brand new maybe the ukm and the sid's tourney can be the feeder events ( Sunday league but dont take that as a put down.)

Its needs to be all the top players as well so it would be beneficial to them.

I think it is run by money at the moment and that is it final and i think that no one would touch us because of that i.e. the sports council and any other people that matter.

just my bit.

I am sure he didn't either. You seem to have missed the main point of this thread. The idea is to have one big national league - not a localised tournament (no offence Syd).

That is where a couple of quid will come in handy!

Oh, and Markie - spot on. Shame it will never happen (well not in our life times).

both tournaments should use the same rules as the millenniums do, that will make things easier for everyone imo.

a quick recap of the above points.

A) it wouldnt take millions, did it take millions to start the UKM? no. NSPL? no. PA? no. Would it take a million to combine all 3? no

B) What do most of the serious uk paintball teams train for? woul i be right in saying the millenium series? so why not use their rule book.

Its not rocket science, if syd, wendy and russ sat down and said look, players want one league, uk ball needs one league, we are all making good money out of our tounraments but we could make a lot more outta 1 united league, how about we sort something out.

Im quite confident if syd, russ and wendy all sat in the same room (and left all the BS outside which i know would be hard) and managed to overcome the "mines better than yours" crap, that they would come away with a good starting block for something serious for uk ball.

Hell maybe yes, i might ask them all to do it and even sit with them while things are discusse, will they listen to me is another thing

Surely a unified UK rulebook is the first move i.e. Millenium Format!
Otherwise nothing will ever work.

Then

The one event that could bring together all the uk leagues is Heavans Gate a 3 day Millenium based mega event (currently run by syd of the NSPL) bringing togethar all the uk teams that want to do it, to play for the grand title of UK champion within their respective divisions?

Maybe this would be a good starting place??

Just my thoughts
