mmmh, my opinion wont count for much, but here it is none the less, you have 3 people who each run there own league, and as mario says obviously make a profit from it, otherwise they wouldnt do it, so why would they want to merge into one league unless all of them could be guarenteed the same profits, hell i know i wouldnt ;/
at least if they had a share of all of the teams within a unified league they would be guaranteed "x" amount of business, which may or may not be more than they originally had. But more importantly, they would have an equal share in the future paintballers out there.

but you still have to get them all to sit down and listen, and then agree on terms, i think that is the first hurdle which will prove the highest, then again i could be talking sheet as im totally wasted ;/

i wouldnt say russ or wendy are egotistical people though ;p which again i know 99% of this board will have a more "well informed" opinion about that but its just the way i see things from up north ;p

I'd like to think in important or relevant threads i post my opinion in full, but with the 87.6% of threads on balled they call for sarky one liners.

Surely you could tell that.
Well, threads only 'call' for sarky one liners if you think they do, nobody forces you or calls for them, it's the person who posts them who makes the decision, and so on that basis, I'm sorry Mikey, I couldn't 'tell' that at all.

If the question above is asking me if i could pull together all the 3 leagues...unlikely to say the least.
My question was facetious Mikey, surely you could tell that ?

whats stopping syd from doing it? Wendy from doing it? Russ from doing? whats stopping all 3 of them doing? you (robbo) in doing it?
I am afraid naivety shines thru that question like a supernova, firstly, take me out of the equation; now, why on earth would any of them wish to do this?
They are in paintball to earn money and not to appease idealists, even if those idealists are offering a practical idea, leastwise for UK paintball it may be.
Because It's practical for UK paintball teams does not necessarily mean it's good for them as individuals, unless of course they are exclusively running the show and making money from it :)

all 4 mentioned above have far more knowledge than myself on league formats, organizations etc etc, forum battles are easy this on the other hand is outta my league with the commitments i already have. If i weren't committed, yes, i'd have a stab at it but only with the help from russ, wendy and syd. Without the help of those 3 it would be pointless.
If anybody can get Russ, Wendy and Syd to organise themselves into a single league, good luck to them because I still can't see any reason why they would give up 100% control of their own league to be a partial owner of another.
Sounds good on paper and in threads like these but as I implied before, it's a pipe-dream at the moment and will remain so for the short to mid term futures.

As I see it, there are only two ways in which there will be any significant initiative to have a single league, if the industry want one (as maybe a trickle down requirement from a unified US league) or the Millennium guys begin to get involved, and even then, it won't kill off all the leagues because leagues like the PA will still wanan run as mavericks.
Why?
Because they wanna make money, that's why !

As for anybody trying to tell me the players will create the initiative, well, we can't even organize ourselves into any sort of coherent player's committee or organize our national game whereby we can create competitive teams.....anything else?

for instance you would need to look at which venues to use, im sure a few teams cant afford to travel great distances so a lot of teams that normally play events such as the Koth in the masters may not be able to play if expenses rose.
Just seen this thread at work and not much time to respond or see whether someone has made this point, however:

Sid my feelings on this is that if a team isnt serious about travelling from South to North or vice versa between events then they are not really serioius about competitive paintball.

We all know of the Clan and how far they travel...

Pete, in your opinion do you no think, if money is the major factor here, that wendy could make more money being a 1 of the 3 organiser of an uk national paintball league? same goes for russ and syd.

I dont know how many teams are in which or who has the moat teams, but combining them all surley will make each person more money.

On another note as people (really cant be botherd to find quotes from people) so quickly say these organisers do so much for uk ball, do they really do that much?

Why not have each series run on its own, as per usual... and have 2-3 or maybe 4 events a year where each are combined? Ran like the milleniums, with divs and overal season winners?

Just an idea........

well you also have to think about the younger genoration of the paintball communities. Like me im 15 and only have a job because of paintball and yet my parents still have to help me with travel and money. Think how much this Uk tourny would cost and how far you would have to travel.

I play at i high level(ish) division 2 of the nspl even in the nspl a div2 team will not travel to both dartford and bristol its one or the other. Now if you have problems like this across 1/4 of the country how are you going to do it across the whole of the UK let alone half a country. I know a few teams for blizt of weymouth and stealers am etc will travel across the south but it is a small minority which is unlikely ti change even from this league.

The only way i can see this working is if some 'x' tourny organiser or someone along those lines can suddenly appear and get the winning teams say the top 3 from the top leagues of the UK and have it in a massive clash at the end of the season. But this does compare to the south vs north competition people do. Also will this include pro teams like Kellys and nexus or does it only allow semi-pro/ametuer paintball teams. There is so many things to sort out with this more negatives than postives atm. if you really want to try this good on you just expext the few major teams ECI, stealers Am, tigers Am etc to enter as this will be a place for them to really get there name in lights and this may cause other smaller teams to be cast aside!

i know this is mainly baised on the nspl but this is the only league i have played so thats were i have the best knowlegde off :)

cheers Tim
