you try sourcing 160 boxes of premium paint every weekend and probally even more with the during the week punters.

say you have to source 200 boxes a week, there's not really many places that can supply that.

would you rather they get something like x-ball and charged you £10 for 100, i wouldnt think so.

Humble pie

ok.... appreciate the fact that punter days allow walk-ons to happen.. so I eat humble pie for that, but I wasnt having a pop at punter days as a whole.... and although did have a moan about the price was more trying to emphasis towards the poor quality of the paint we were paying all that money for.. and have to agree with markfenton that just a couple of quid per box more by the site could have made for a much better day.... and ensured return business...

Got to admit didnt get one chop that day... but the paint itself was indeed like marbles.... so probably why....

Thing is without doing the walk-on last month I wouldnt have really known any better... so I suppose the old saying of... 'you don't know better till you have it'... is absolutely true in this case...

People with some knowledge of paintball often bitch and moan about the quality of paint at punter days. Truth is, it's often not that bad really.
The real cause of the paint going all over is the fact that the paint/barrel match is often poor and the barrel is really just a piece of aluminum with a hole in it (yes, I'm talking about you Tippmann).
Also, the bounces are often caused by a combination of factors, as Liz pointed out the paint needs to be a bit harder because of all the reasons she mentioned but also because the guns are often set to a lower FPS than you and I would use. This saves a lot of tinkering from the resident tech dwarfs to keep the guns running safe, and prevents a lot of the customers going "Ow, that smarts..." and consquently curse paintball as a masochistic activity.

So next time you stand 10 feet away from your opponent during a punter day and you have to fire 50 balls at him to only hit him once and watch that ball bounce off too, just smile and be glad, they're doing it for you... :p

.

Don't even ask me why headshots and gun/bottle/hopper shots don't count. Takes the fun out of it... but I suppose it keeps u in the game a lot longer to use more paint.
Head shots are usually discouraged due to health and safety reasons plus to try and keep the lenses in good condition so they dont have to be replaced as often.

You also have to bear in mind that harder paint is needed for rental compared to tournament play due to the hammering it goes through - guns that are harder on the paint, customers shaking their guns/loaders like mad to get the paint to drop, customers dropping guns or rolling around like Rambo. If the paint used at rental sites was as fragile as that used for tournament or even walk-on, there would be so many breaks that the poor old refs would spend most of their time cleaning the inside of the barrels/loaders, and the customers would miss lots of play due to the breaks.
wats different between that and tournament players diving left right and center????lol
not a dig just thought it almost the same
carry on with the thread:D
