In my opinion, she was just a silly little idealist acting out what a lot of young people end up doing, rebelling .. and doing it in an antagonistic way ...... if I had been that cop, and there were no cameras around and one of the bubbles had touched me or my colleague, I would have grabbed hold of the stupid bitch, grabbed the container holding the bubble liquid and poured it in her eyes .... she might not have appreciated the subtleties of the point I would have been trying to make but hey, whether she understood it or not, the point would have been made at the expense of some rather painful eyeballs.

I suppose the point I would be trying to make would be; in terms of assault and inappropriate behaviour, blowing bubbles at someone is one end of a continuum, pouring the liquid in her eyes would have been somewhat further along that continuum ... nevertheless, it's the same line ... point made, end of!!!

Addendum: I do wanna add something here in that my opinion is extreme I know and I also know a lot of people might think it's waaaaay over the top, and of course it is but .... if you don't wanna be bitten by a dog, then don't wake it up ... it's not as if these people are unaware of their actions, they know EXACTLY what they are doing and are, for all intents and purposes, baiting the police ... and so in my eyes, don't bait and you won't get bitten; and if you do end up getting your ass hurt, it's your own frikkin fault.

Why should he have to be polite? He's there to keep the peace, a peace that would be kept if people like her weren't there causing trouble. She's part of the problem that he has to solve (at the taxpayers dollar) Take her away, there would be no problem, no need for any of it.

I can't believe your condoning capitulating to 'the man' and worrying about government spending money.
The police are at a cross roads in public opinion at the moment and practices like kettling and over reacting to minor incidents will turn a generation against them. Enough is spent on security and surveillance in the UK to identify trouble makers prior to the event rather than kettling the masses to control the few.
Perhaps the fact that he's suing you tube for ridiculing him following the incident probably says more about his personality that anything else. Not for the original video but a spoof of him arresting various people including Barrack Obama and Santa Clause. The man has no sense of humour in my opinion - the cop not Cook$ obviously

Pete, its what youths do - wind up authority. You've been young (unless the stories about a genetically synthesised ultimate baller are true) and got children. If that cop had threatened your daughter (for blowing bubbles for gods sake) and arrested her for some trivial excuse (no prosecution has occured) you'd have plenty to say about his over reaction.
Youth rebelling against the older generation has gone on since the beginning of time and the kick in the ass is that they will get old and get the same thing.

J, we can all complicate principles by invoking ideas of our own kids involved in such examples but I will stand by opinions mate.
And just because youths have always done this doesn't it excuse it in any way; There's always been paedophillia in some human behaviour patterns, is this OK because it's been going on for so long and there are always people gonna do this sh!t?

Of course not mate .. you cannot introduce any notion of precedence and believe that somehow justifies its continuance.

Fair point but response to an action has to be proportionate and response to protests recently has been anything but. If the oppression by authority becomes heavier handed so does the response to it. The sad thing is that there's a video of this cop from a few years ago where his response is approriate and measured and both sides win.

Yes I agree with people that this was probably a bit ott but then these guys get treated like **** from everywhere - the public and their superiors. These guys have lost alot of respect that they had and people don't fear them anymore. When I was growing up (sound like an old granddad here) I was taught they are there to protect the public and deal with bad guys. Now they are seen in alot of youth's eyes as some dick who wants to stop me having 'fun'. I'm not surprised they get a bit pissed sometimes.

Also she didn't need to be as arrogant as she was trying to annoy him. There's also flaw in that we don't see what happened before and also the reason why she got arrested. We don't know if she turned round and kicked/hit/punched someone and that's why she got arrested. I personally hate videos like these as they are so one sided it's untrue and we don't see the full story.

I think he was right! That dopey bird stood there deliberately blowing bubbles at them to piss him off & break his concentration. What did she hope to gain? She knew exactly what she was doing & deserved to be slung in a cell & have a caution for being stupid in public on her record so anyone that employs her in the future can see on her CIB that she doesn't think past the end of her nose.

Conspiracy theory:
If she was the distraction so another protester type can bust something up or set fire to another police car would it still be wrong to arrest her for not listening to what she was told?

Its not like he said go away, go home, you can't wear that etc he just said stop blowing bubbles at me, hardly infringing your rights...

I am not a fan of the Polices attitude or competence in general (Having been on the receiving end of their "on the spot decisions" a few times) but I can see what he was doing there. Why are people so stupid? He was just doing his job, if there was no camera she wouldn't of been told that many times for sure...

I think you have to ask the following questions:-

a) Why was she there in the first place?

b) Why did she have in her possession bubble making articles?

c) Why was she blowing bubbles toward the policemen ?

These are not arbitrary or accidental actions, they are quite deliberate and therefore need explaining ...
