although he acted a little brashly he was spot on in my opinion. Perhaps he should have blown his pepper spray in her direction.

although a trivial matter there obviously was something else going on which is why everyone was there, includings tons of police officers. She was warned and didn't respect the guy at all. I was always told to respect the police...

You also have to look from the his point of view.

What is she doing? She is trying to incite him.

Why is she doing that? To provoke a reaction that will be witnessed and snowball into a mucher bigger incident.

He is smart enough to realise that he has to deal with her before her actions become more extreme and do provoke the situation she is trying to acheive.

If he had completely ignored her would the next step have been her frustratedly throwing it in his face? We don't know but he did not let it get to that stage.

Policing - ****ty job where you meet ****ty people.

I just realised this was in Toronto, which totally changes my perspective.
The OPP are a bunch of total tossers, and the G20 was the worst, because they brought in cops from all over, so you had cops from Hamilton etc, who don't give a crap about the rep of the Toronto-area Police, basically bullying citizens for 2 days and getting their kicks from it. The rep of the OPP is still in tatters from that debacle.

A more inteersting Toronto Police story is the one about the shoe-less bum.
A shoe-less bum, who was just a bit mental, jumped into a snow plough in downtown Toronto this winter, while the driver was talking to some other plough-buddies, and drove it like a destruction derby through the streets, wrecking cars etc (ploughs are huge). So a Toronto Police officer jumps out into the street, in front of the plough, and fires 9 shots into the cab, wounding the bum. Then the cop gets MOWED down by the plough, completely flattened, and is later hailed as a 'hero of Toronto', with a big ol' fancy funeral.

I wasn't thinking he was a hero, I was mainly thinking "why did he jump in front of a hijacked renegade snow-plough and start going all TJ-Hooker?". The OPP went to town on this tragedy, and milked it like a 'promotional event' to boost their cred following the G20 and try to renew public support for themselves. Terrible really.

I think he was a gun-ho prihk who kinda got what he deserved .... he's no hero, he's a wannabee.
Since when has criminal damage warranted a bullet in the head?
And if you want to act all T.J.Hooker on some bum's ass just because he's crashing a few cars then he shouldn't be too surprised if that same bum gets all 'Fast and Furious' on his ... you shoot at me, I flatten you .. seems fair to me.
