You say Composite.
I say plastic.

I love flowery wording, don't get me wrong, but if you substituted the word composite for plastic (which is the less attractive tag for the same materiel), how many less people would buy them?

I too thought they would be cheaper. I am amazed the plastic version sells for more than the machined aluminum version. How much lighter are they once you have your tank and loader on there?

Sorry but composites and plastics (polymers) are two completely different types of material. Its like saying that steel and Iron are the same thing!

composite is plastic. Its fact not opinion. Stingrays were plastic. They called those composite too, remember? Difference is they were $69 retail, so no-one cared.

You would call a plastic chair a composite chair would you? Thats the same stuff, you know that, right?

And yes, total dick measuring contest. But Ally dicks are better than cheapo plastic ones any day (Ahem, so I've heard...)

Well no its not fact. Its what you believe to be true. The fact is that composites are usually based on a plastic matrix (Epoxy or Polyester Resins) with another material added to change the properties of the now composite. Just as Steel is different from Iron, Glass Fibre is different from Polyester. You wouldn't say that Formula 1 cars are made out of plastic now would you?

nonsense.
Formula one cars are made out of Carbon fibre, at least thats what they said during the Grand Prix at the weekend.
Split hair all you like. Metal is metal, different combo's of metals are still basically metal. Its a generic term.
Same with plastic. Composite is plastic with stockings and sussies on.
Plastic became a dirty word in the 80's, then the word composite came along and people thought it was OK again.

this looks a bit like a hair. Can you split that?

To me (and I may lack the subtleties of the 'plastic matrix'), the carbon fibre used on Formula One racing cars is less like plastic than the 'composite' materiel that is going into paintball guns these days.
I call it plastic. If I gave it to 10 people on the street and asked them what it was, at least 9 of them would say it was plastic, unless it was your street, in which case it would be at least 8 of them.
Not wishing to offend your superior knowledge of all things plastic, which you have clearly and concisely demonstrated, but I would rather call a spade a spade. What kind of plastic the spade is made out of is secondary. :)

Ok, you believe what you want. Have to say I'm bored trying to explain that the world is round to someone who only sees the horizon.
