PSP seem to have the gun issue substantially locked down. Even more so NXL. I spent most of the World Cup going from field to field checking ROF before games--which was very much appreciated by players. Several times a day I was radioed to check guns that were confiscated during games and most of those guns were indeed illegal. I further re-enforced my ability to hear the difference between various rates of fire. Most of the times when I guessed that a gun was slightly over (16-17bps) I was right although there are a few guns that sound slightly faster or slower while shooting the same ROF as others.
We suspended a handful of players; far less than last year without the cap and the measuring devices. I was also trained to operate the hand-held radar speed guns.
I also was introduced to the NXL "upgrade" of the Pact IV timers which has been modified with noise cancellation, increased selectivity, a parabolic antenna, a better microphone and a head-set for focusing on the signal. I was impressed to see it get accurate readings clear across the field to players chronographing their guns.
All in all the guns at this World Cup were much slower than last year.
These guys seem to be leading the way regarding gun control.
