There are similar discussions
going on in just about every sport in the world.
(well ok maybe not all of them)
Cricket, when is rubbing the ball on your leg 'tempering' and when is it 'polishing'. (or attackingit with a beer bottle top for that matter)
Football, when is 'diving' a blatant attempt to get an opposition player sent off and when is it a reaction to a crunching tackle.
Etc etc.
Now here I am making the distinction between your 'baller who gets tapped on the goggles/hopper/marker and cleans it off and those who, as kidzero highlighted, use a slide or similar entrance to a bunker (or other move) to remove a hit.
So in the same vein as above,
Paintball, when is sliding into a bunker a blatant attempt to clean off a hit and when is it a reasonable way to enter a bunker?
Ok you get tagged and you wipe it off, foul play.
You get hit by a ball on the run you finish the run and check yourself with a marshall in tow. If you have cleaned the hit off by sliding in, is that foul play?
Gamesmanship is a word often associated with similar discussions in other sports, but that infers that you are doing it in the knowledge that the rules may bend for you.
In the case of paintball, you simply cannot stop and check yourself to see if it's a legal hit or a bounce.
