nah its not the distance from the sun. its the densitey of a planet that causes its local gravitational field to be weak or strong

my guess is that the magnet moves the clip because all chemical bonds look to strengethen themselves and so its in their intrest to move together

Because generally for us gravity is a constant, to the weight of the paperclip is not far off the weight of most objects on the earth. a Magnet will apply a stronger force than gravity/weight so can easily move the paperclip.

The medical symbol, the world over...isnt a Red Cross...its a serpent wrapped around a dagger.
