this is a great thread

I think this guy in mikes pic is so lucky, lets hope this post is a lesson to all ballers as accidents do happen , it could be the man or boy/girl across the field /tent ive seen it 2 many times no bung/goggles in prohibited areas, its even more dangerous when your on a site where theres newbies hiring equip/ guns etc there just for the day, pay & play they just want to shoot there hired markers ,
mostley not at people at anything around , ive seen people off with the goggles to clean the steamed up lense mad , marshalls have a lot of responsabliity / awareness etc . this post should be respected , hope not to see any one hurt eyes lost due to lack of respect .

what concerns me is when you see 2 year olds 20ft away from the game with masks on running around

The numberous of times i have pointed this out to organisers if they was to get hit from the game it could seriously injure them and when there running around like 2 year old's do wo's to say they might not take there masks of for just a second and thats all it would take

eyeball safety is still a big issue.
You still see players taking their goggles off after games, while live markers are still on field unbagged! You still see reffs taking goggles off between games, and players chronographing right beside them.

Stricter rules are needed, or someone will lose an eye at a high profile event.

And the problem won't be legislation against paintball, but insurance companies hiking their fees to the point that paintball parks can not afford to do business.

I have seen one person in the middle of a game that had looked round the side of a tree and lifted his mask and has been shot a inch away from his eye on the top part of his nose... after we led him out to basecamp we rang a ambulance but it wasn't a serious injury no swelling...but still this guy insisted that he still wanted to play!!!..........no chance!!
idoits like this, lift their goggles all the time.
appart from taping the goggles to their heads, nothing stops them.

Personally i feel that eye safety is the one thing that we should spend more time and effort drilling into people's heads. I've said it before, but site owners, and tourney promoters have to say to the judges, wearing your goggles on field, IS THE LAW, and is not negotiable no matter who you are.
Once you enter the gate to the field, the goggles stay on.

Sadly it probably will take someone getting their eye shot out to make people take notice.

wot scares the **** out of me is these pro teams and thier players who god like ability to play the game is without question but walk round with either no googles or rested on thier forheads check out the smoked dvd and toulouse 2002
This really bothered me when I saw it the other day.
The worst part, at Campaign cup last year, Dynasty were walking around with their barrels removed, and Ryan greenspan looked me in the eye and said that he felt his marker was safe! I had to get Moose to threaten them with a game ban in order to get them to put a barrel sock on.
Seriously, I know these guys spend a lot of time with their markers, but accidents can happen, and we want our event to be safe.
Pros like Ledz however are consciences about safety, and I even remember him yelling at a certain owner of a major paint manufacturer to get his goggles back on while on field!
I wish more pros were like that.

You Brits are funny.
could he have been just wearing the lens part and not the rest of the goggles?
There is one kid at one of the places I go, who as soon as he gets hit, takes his mask off and stands up, then walks throught the field to get back. I always yell at him(im not a ref) and he never puts em back on. If I wasnt so nice id prolly shoot him. Grrrrrrrrrr

Be nice

Don't shoot him as that may be the ball that takes out his eye.
At the field where I play they have a one chance rule.
One goggle lift is a warning the second one and don't come back.
Harsh? yes but paintball is illegal in some states of Australia and in every case you have to have a gun liscence to purchase a marker.
We are pushing for changes to the law and a better understanding of the sport.
Case to point- Customs confiscated a Rev hopper as it's a multi round magazine for what they call a firearm. Thank goodness someone set them straight.
