To be fair, he's only asking, hopefully he'll take on the advice and keep it legal (so to speak).

It's better that he asks the question, I'm sure no one could disagree with that.

this outlaw you talk of (not good).not to go over old ground as most points have been pointed out already but to top it of you run the risk of breaking the fire arms laws, and you should be aware of those being in the T A.at best you will get a criminal record which im sure wont help your future as you are a student and deffo put you out of the T A.just do like a lot do save your money till you can afford to go,you will enjoy it more.YOU WILL NOT ENJOY THE INSIDE OF A CELL AT ALL M8.

p.s you cant play paintball in there either lol

okay i see.

i wasnt refering to playing 'outlaw' on public land. but a get together on private woodland.

as for saftey, i total understand where all of you are coming from. so i am definatly in no hurry to do anything like this.

but if i did do this it would not exceed 8 people and if it did there would be a designated marshall.
there would be somone in charge, who would regulate, and ensure everyone stuck strictly to standard saftey rules.

i was not considering doing this anytime soon, as i am fairly new to paintballing, and do not feel confident that i could ensure 100% saftey that is maintained at an official PB field.

so what do you chaps think about it, providing the following:

-its on private land
-there is less than 10 people
-there is somone in charge who has done a Pb 'marshaling' course, to ensure safe play.
-standard/official PB saftly rules are applied, and anyone to fails to follow them is to be banned from play.

i see the logic in all the paintball rules/regulations, and i hate seeing idiots ignoring tham at PB fields

but as i said before, i dont plan on doing this anytime soon.

thanks for the advice everyone
have a nice day:D

Here's my personal take on it:

Every time I play at a nearby site, I've had the rules and regs of the site I play at drilled into me about 2-3 times a day (thanks to some individuals who don't follow rules and force the marshals to repeat themselves). I'd need no more encouragement to say, just don't play paintball outside a site. If players are breaking the rules, tell the site about them, but in reality the marshals should be all over them the moment anything happens. If they're not, you're possibly playing at a less than perfect site.

OK, there are idiots that do ignore the rules, but they are not going to be there at walk-ons. Walk-on players (at least in general) are their to enjoy their day as much as you are. They've bought their own kit because they enjoy playing the game by the rules (and can afford it). This is about the main reason I've been trying to get to walk-ons rather than punter days.

If you have got your own kit, find a walk-on at a reputable site (There's a few down your way, lists and suggestions can be provided) and just see the difference between walk-on and punter days.

I'm sure others will back me up here with what I say.

Mr Piggy,

as others have said avoid "outlaw" paintball. For the obvious legal reasons, and because you have no support base in the middle of nowhere. If your in the South the best locations I can recommend are:

Campaign Paintball - http://www.campaign-paintball.com/
Weekend Warriors - http://www.weekend-warriors.co.uk/
Ambush Southampton - http://www.ambushpaintball.co.uk/

All are great sites and have friendly Walk-on group regulars who will happily include you, answer any questions you have etc :)

Mmm this is a difficult one to answer reading through all the replies, first off i would like to point out that paintball is a genuine sport to many people not a weekend Rambo type thing.

Safety safety safety is the next thing that comes to mind. I work as a safety marshal at a site and have to be honest if you are this new then you shouldnt at all try and play alone / with friends etc. The idea behind this "outlaw" thing is presumably from something you have seen from the yanks? It might be worth pointing out here that these kind of days is what started paintball off all over the world, we have by far moved on from there and experinced and sensible people have wrote a set of rules or code of conduct making paintball a safe and enjoyable thing. It maybe worth mentioning here that going it alone has many many safety concerns, first off does anyone have a chrongraph? These little machines messure how many foot per second the marker (not gun) is shooting as legally you must shoot under 300fps, most masks are designed to withstand impacts of that mark and obviously have a safety factor but i have seen cracked lenses at that speed before and lets remember you only have 1 set of eyes! If you have looked on websites or whatever that try and promote things like this then chances are its some hillbilly / redneck type thing where there is no sites or anything for many hundreds of miles, in your case there will be many sites not so far away.

Next HPA or co2, how would you fill your marker? Without a shadow of dowt dont try and use anything changed to 3000+psi if you dont know what your doing, common sence says its not worth blowing yourself and others up!

Next the 300 balls in a day... personally i love to shoot paint so cant really answer this the best, however there is many walk ons that cater for pump players, i have played against pump players before and they get a real enjoyment out of 1 shot 1 kill etc maybe have a google up on walk ons within your area that cater for such things? Also worth noting here you can buy your own pump really cheap (i bought a couple a while ago and although i havent used them they were really cheap, i think i payed about £20 each or something).

There are many sites now that incorporate walk on fee with the paint they sell so £35 for a box a paint and thats including your entry fee (i know my local site does this), if you dont think you will shoot that many sell them to a friend or just keep hold of them maybe you might get a chance to lend a electro marker at some people and just feel like hosing the place down (try it you will love it lol)?

I think the last question you want to ask yourself... how would i feel if a mate lost his eye because i decided to try and go it alone? Or how how would you feel if it happened to you?

My guess here is you are considering asking people from your TA to join you and try and play snipers or whatever in a woods somewhere? 1st thing i would do is speak to CO and anyone with common sense will say dont do it, of course by you not following what he / she says then maybe the army or TA is not for you? Of course the other option would be to express this interest to your CO and see if he could arrange something for or with you for the lads, you never know they might want to take you lot on and see who the real know it alls is. I am sure there will be sites who respect the work that our lads do and offer some kind of group discount or incentive?

Cant think of a great deal else to say on the subject but a question you should ask yourself, would you try and arrange some kind of rally in a car with mates when you havent passed your driving test? Course not, lets hope common sense prevails :D

righto.

so i can forget about the 'outlaw'.

i take saftey very seriously, and can identify if somthing is unsafe. and such events would need to be organised (and run) by a profesional marshal.

and I am not that :)

and as for the walk-ons, and such. i am actualy considering not buying a marker at all.
yes the paint is cheaper, but you always have to buy so much.

unless i cant find a walkon where i can buy smaller amounts, as chrizwheatley stated.

im going to assume that PB fields dont allow players to use thier won markers on punter/rental days, as they seem better suited to my paint ussage requirments

but otherwise, i think i will hold the marker of for a couple of years, as i dont think it would be worth it.

unless anyone can advise me otherwise

thank you all so much

To be honest with you you wont find a "professional" marshal who would do it thats the first point.

The next bit is more of a question then anything else, you more then likely pay about £6-7 per 100 balls so thats about £21 then the £10 site fee etc so your still talking £30+ for a day out a walk on is maybe £35 -45 so your not talking a great deal of differance.

You mentioned before the army taught you to ration ammo speaking personally I play with squadies and bodygaurds both serving and previously served and they dont have a single problem with shooting a case of paint in a day infact they love it.

I think maybe your interested more in the scenario scene? There is many scenario players whom frequent this forum so they are probs best to advise you on scenario side of things, failing that there is many a good web site designed specifically for this type of paintball.

One thing I would certainly say is usuing paintball in some kind of training exersise for training in a soldier point of view is a very specialised thing so I would rule that out straight away. There are very few people whom are qualified to run american millitary type training like this and the list just builds and builds against it.

If you made your intentions a little more clear as to what you want to achive from paintball (training tool, having a giggle for a stag party, day out with the family etc) then I am sure we will be able to help you further and hopefully you will get a hell of a lot more out of paintball.

If its any kind help I watched a vid from somewhere in the states where navy seals took on paintball players and the lost every time, so if its milliary style paintball that intersts you then my best guess would be dont bother coz quite simply it dont work like that and of course the british army have far better ways of teaching the art of war, as I said before paintball is a sport :D
