Okay, here we go again.........
The Americans did most of the so called island hopping, liberating the many small islands in the Pacific, some of which were very heavily defended by the Japanese. The British and the Commonwealth did most of the fighting on the Asian continental landmass (although there was a US presence there too).
I saw Pearl Harbour, and I thought it sucked. The shot where the USS Arizona blew up, was a great piece of cinematography though. I do not recall the movie showing the Americans winning the war in the Pacific, all it showed was the Doolittle raid, which was the first air raid ever on Tokyo, which broke the myth of Japanese invulnerability in the same way the Pearl Harbour attack did the same thing to the Americans.
All I said about the Enigma machine is that it was retrieved from a German sub by the British, I did not say anything about who cracked the code......
One thing I'd like to say about movies showing only Americans or British is that that's actually very correct. There were only a few instances in which the Allies fought 'mixed'. Most of the time, the American and the british army was seperated, with the British occupying the northern part of the front, and the Americans the Southern part (in Europe that is). One of the few instances that American and British troops fought intermingled was during Operation Market Garden. Most US doughboys never saw a British Limey, except when billeted in England, and even then it was not that often, because most of the British troops were stationed up north, until they moved south for embarkation to Normandy and the European battlefields.
Jeez, this has very little to do with paintballing.....
Radium, you are a brave man for challenging ol' Robbo to a boxing match.
