Honestly though, the people actually moaning about the UK scene are only really the Pro ballers (I use that term in the mindset sense as no one makes a living out of it here) surely?

If teams/people are really that bothered about finding great young players for the future surely it makes sense to do what football coaches do. Get out to the local sites, find the rough diamonds and show them what's possible.

Unless someone takes them by the hand they will never know about tourny ball - why is that the fault of site owners? They are in it for money, it is their business. I don't think they have a moral responsibility to tell everyone who enters their site about tournament paintball.

Ultimately the vast majority of UK tourny ballers are 'sunday league paintballers' (excellent terminology Mr Edwards came up with on the PA boards), happy to continue playing under the guise of 'sportsmen' and despite all the hot air and frustration shown by the 'pro' factions absolutely NOTHING will change, nor perhaps should - even with Oli's picture of love and understanding and beautiful events being run in tandem and harmony with the gods of paintball. I don't think that would change squat.

For sake of clarification, can somebody actually define, succinctly what it is they want?

1. More talented youngsters and commited UK pro teams?
2. Not to feel embarrassed when they tell people they play paintball at the weekends?
3. A single unified league system over disparate locations (Oli's picture)

Seems to me that the only REAL problem with the UK scene is everyone is obsessed with negativity. One place starts a league and others rubbish it. Those that play European leagues diss domestic events as worthless. God help anyone who admits to playing in the woods - you may as well be a leper!

That one - it is a collective self-esteem problem for some bizarre reason.

Can anyone answer my earlier questions about the German scene - I've been having a dig around and can't find owt...

maybe cause they know how good it is to get there and want as many people in this country to experience it as possible :)

I don't doubt the heady sense of pride that comes with achievment but for others, there are different fish to fry. It's arrogant to assume that everyone else is a looser or doing the wrong thing if they don't follow suit. After all, tournament paintball wouldn't even exist, were it not for the rental scene to partly subsidise it.

Whether you treat is as such, paintball as a 'sport' currently offers no benefit beyond itself. It is noble and admirable to aspire to greatness in any field, and I also feel that if it is your inclination to try and be the best at something it needs no further justification. However, many would rather devote the lions share of their free time and efforts into something with more of a tangible benefit.

In ten years time, you may wish you had spent more of your time investing in definates rather than chasing fortune and glory. ;)

I am not too sure that there will not be an improvement! Simply because there is no structure at the moment but maybe somethings will change in the not too far future!

In all honesty the amount of money you get charged for events in the UK can be a slight BLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP! We been asked to support another team at an event. Cost to enter nearly £600 (that is without paint)! The site that had been chosen was bleep! Rocks, holes and metal crap on it.

Course we will comment about that if you see the standard of fields provided by the MS, NPPLS, etc.
