As it Say's does any one really know what is going to happen to the sport that we love.

Do you think that the TV people and the public will accept this thing that we spend all of our wages on get into debt for and lose girls friends over.

Do you think that its because we use gun's that's the issue they have with us with not being up there with crown green bowls because even that is on TV ?.

Even now on sky sports we have premiership darts WTF...i don't think one dart player is under 17 stone now that's not a good way to promote sport surely.

sorry if it is a bit deep but some one said to me today why do you spend all your money on paintball and spend all your Sundays at a site for nothing to show for it.

But the only answer i could come up with was "for the love of the game"

at that point he started laughing and called me gay.

just would like to know players thoughts on this on any of the people at the top of the food chain?

I think the problem is in how the public see the sport. the only way they see it is through rec ball. now allthough i have no problem with the game, I love getting cam'ed up and screaming MEDIC all day BUT some people beleave its too much like real fighting.

what we need are more tourneyments or open games in public places. i know im my local town park u can hire one part out, if we could get an air ball feild up with netting etc we could introduce so many people to the "other" side of paintball, the "sporty" side!

the problem is we are still trying to open paintball up to people who are allready involved in the sport, we need to open it FURTHER!!!

thats my 2 pence worth

don't worry guys im gunna win the lottery i can feel it, next euro million roll over. dont say it aint gunna happen because in my mind its a bullet proof plan :) :p but yeah it would be good for a multi millionaire to blow a load of money on getting paintball more recognised.

I hope as much as the next guy that paintball can become a mainstream sport. I think the main thing that holds paintball back is that you can't exactly grab some mates and head down to the park for a game, the same as you can with football. As such I feel that it will always be regarded as an Extreme sport, in the same way as skateboarding or BMX. both of these sports have a huge worldwide following but not really that much television coverage. they both have companies which produce DVD's featuring pro boarders and riders from around the world, but after watching one, you can go and pick up your skateboard or bike and go out for some fun. can't do that with a paintball "gun"

Lets face it I don't think paintball is the most TV friendly sport in the world, and the easiest on the eye that i have seen so far is that WPL 3 man stuff. I know that there is big news on the way, according to Baca Loco and we will see how that pans out.

Xball and possibly WPL is definitely the way forward for TV as watching 7 man is just too difficult due to the amount of bodies and bunkers on the field.

I would love to think that paintball can become a household name however has anyone tried recently to explain the different leagues and rules and regulations? go ahead and explain the differences to someone you know who has never played tounament paintball....................... and see what they say to you.

it's frustrating, however we do participate in a niche sport and unfortunately i feel it will continue to be a niche sport until such times as you can gather up your mates and go down to the local park to the paintball area and organise a game ad hoc.

never gonna happen, there are a lot of sports queuing for the olympics and a lot of more mainstream ones than ours.

X games won't even have paintball...................

Agree with Dusty... paintball is for me too hard to follow on TV (and even in person for that matter). There is no focus like in other sports (like a ball to follow in golf/football/rugby etc). At least in the likes of football you follow the ball and don't have to try and focus on every player on the field :)

Also I think paintball in the formats I have seen is still a participant sport.

I've been to loads of events and loved them, and then been and watched a few as well and found them really boring (irrelevant of if it was a div 4 or a div 1 team). I just think it is pretty dull to watch.

I watched the WPL footage, and although I thought it was a decent watch it was only because of some of the crazy moves the teams were pulling at times. With that in mind I play paintball, so if I was kind of semi interested/impressed I don't know what the reaction of a non playing spectator would be?
