Dunno where you got the August stuff from, everything I have seen/been told was that it would come out in November. I think the date was around the 10th or something although I can't say for sure.
Personally, I wouldn't hold out too much hope. The concept of a PROPER pb game is very un proven and it is coming from a rather obscure and small developer. Everything I've seen/heard so far has left a bad taste in my mouth, such as the (i feel) wholly inappropriate decision to approach the concept by using a 1st person perspective to try and ape action games like Halo and Rainbow Six 3. About 18 months ago I decided to write a bit of a game design document about how I feel a proper pb game should be done. Although I'm not quite prepared to spill all of the beans I will say that a game based on top level paintball needs to handle itself more like a sports game. Rather than going down the simple and obvious route of being a jumped-up 1st person shooter with odd looking paintguns instead of your usual AK-47s and MP5s. A lot of what paintball is about is player position, situation awareness and how the team works as a cohesive whole. These aspects I feel can only be appropriately realised by leaving the 1st person perspective well alone and instead using a 3rd person perspective more akin to other sports games.
I've given this speech many a time about this issue but I really think that this is the way it should be done if this game wants any sort of mass-market appeal out-side hardcore ballers. Who, apart from tourney ballers wants to play a 1st person action game with odd sounding guns that look like plumbing supplies, bright colours and a total absence of cool monsters and killing stuff?
Nerf Arena anyone?
