The way I see it this, Ions are the Bic Biros of the Paintball world, you use them for a bit, they break, you dispose of them one way or another.....

Use the money on something like a used Angel or Matrix, there are some great deals if you look hard enough.

Ions=Cr*p (i've had 2 of them before anyone asks)

Simple.

ok lets simplify this

in the 2nd hand market £250 will pick up pritty much any of these

a decent cocker with an eblade fitted

a decent angel, or angel speed

a viking

an old style matrix

an older timmy

pritty much any impulse

its all a matter of personal taste really.........see what you can try out and then see what you want to spend your cash on...the 2nd hand market is amazing at the moment, prices are down over 50% on last year for some markers simply because they are out of fashion at the moment....truth is 15bps is all you need and there is no realy point in being able to shoot more than that!

edit: given 250 quid to spend in the 2nd hand market i think i personally would be looking for a 2nd hand eclipse cocker. but that is MY personal choice, yours may be different

the cheepest one was the e1 and it is the one i use the most, at the end of the day just suits my play and the feel is right! I would now never buy a new marker just no point, its a buyers market and its great!!!! just what do i do with my old gats:( doh didnt think of that

Damn there's some crap in this thread.
Cashmoney, im with you!

I'd take the Joy Fly by the way, sell it and get an Ion.

I've owned a wide range of markers, but I still got rid of them for the sake of my Ion. Screw the bling, its all about simplicity. I've not messed about with my Ion and its been good to me for over 6 months.
99% of the 99% of people who send their **** back to Smart Parts have ****ed up their gun themselves. Truth!

This is why in my opinion an Ion shouldnt be advertised as a newbie orientated gun as much as it is on this forum. It is less tolerable to idiots than other manufaturers markers are.

A budget of <£200 for a new gun means the only viable guns (for the tournament circuit) are the Ion/Wrath. But as it says the budget specifies second hand for £250. With this in mind, as mentioned previously, an Ion/Wrath is not the best decision.

Also I wouldn't recommend an Ion/Wrath down to basic economics. In my opinion, it will be something that you will upgrade sooner rather than later. I suppose if the Ion did have a wider barrel then I may consider one to frig myself with.
