oops
Cemetary Man
Man Bites Dog
Blood of Heroes (great slo mo action-oxymoron?)
The Man who would be King
Wild Bunch (gives new meaning to 'blaze of glory')
The Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, Kagemusha, and basically anything touched by Akira Kirusawa (except Tora, Tora, Tora), Toshiro Mifune(even 1945 with John Belushi), or Tatsuya Nakadai
I went Down (made on most of your folks side of the pond)
Conan the Barbarian for sheer blood pumping (and spraying) action
Bottlerocket (Dignan rules!)
Outlaw Josie Wales (Clint's best and he directed)
Angelheart (best deal-with-the-devil period, devil's advocate be thrice damned, Mickey Rourke is the king of f*ing up your own life)
books would be Neuromancer number one with a flechette bullet and its compatriots. Prefer Silmarillion to any of the LoTR books, books of the Black Company, Raymond Chandler for a little Phillip Marlowe and Robert Howard for the original Conan almost Lovecraftian feel. And Miyamoto Musashi's Book of Five Rings (in the most literal translation available).
