Things i've seen

Recently i saw a player take a hit to hand coming out the left of the barricade. The marshall was standing to the right. Now this guys taking a lot of paint and the marshall was probably in the right place (the guy was shooting cross field and down the line) as the ball came in and burst the the crowd went ohhh alerting the marshall. In the time it took him to get to him (about half a second) the player was tight to the barricade switching directions. The check came i and the mark (minor to start with) was totally gone.

This was not the only time things like this occured. The point is if people are "good" (i use the term loosely here) at losing marginal hits then sometimes it don't matter how good the marshall is unless you got two marshalls to every player.

Hate cheating scum!!!
yeah, i only found this out on sunday, when one of our guests was accused of wiping by a marshall or on-looker, and the captain just said, if you wiped we cant allow you to play for us, but if you tell me what happened i will believe you, anyways, he didnt wipe or play on, cos we both got hit from behind on one field. which is impossible so the most logical conclusion is we were hit from another field (we were playing back)

I think we need to be carefull about involvement from outside the field.

While playing on the RPS field this Sunday I noticed a player pointing in an adjitated fashion at me from the sidelines.

I look, I see nothing, I look again, still nothing but this guy is still waving at me. I call a Marshall who pulls me. Fair enough I thought, if there was a hit I couldn't see then fine. However I get to the dead box and still can't see a hit.

My team check, nothing there! Only on seeing my photo from this game do I spot the offending "splat" on my pot. Its a big, orange Dye fireball sticker! Gutted, ohh just a little!

Needless to say the stickers will be going, but had this guy not waved at me, I would have still been in the game. This would have given us a player advantage over Monkey Love ( not a dig against you guys by the way, still a great game!!). So we could have possibly beaten the monkeys, who won our division.

Its not a massive leap of imagination to see how much harm can be done from outside envolvement, is it?

I agree... in games like football or basketball u get the crowd yelling at the ref all the time, but the ref's decision is final, however wrong it might be. It's galling when a bad call goes against you (England-Argentina, 1986 World Cup anybody?) but it happens to the best of them. :(

If however we get to the level where we DO get crowds at paintball games, then outside involvement WILL become a reality... it's how we handle it that will be the issue... :D
