SCIENCE ISN'T DULL!!! LOL!

Thats a cool link...like the bit about the corn flour mix...
I was watching Brainiacs the other day...they got some ex Big Brother reprobate...he demonstrated that he couoldnt walk across a swimming pool when filled with water....so they emptied it...got 6 cement mixers, and proceeded to fill it with custard a "Non-Newtonian" liquid.....where by, he could then walk briskly across it without effect, but when he stopped, he quicly began to sink...and get very stuck...picked up a lump of it, threw it between his hands, but as soon as he stopped "impacting" it, it ran through his fingers...very interesting...I wonder if the same principle should be applied to Quick sand, should one encounter it? Or is it a different situation? Is that why its called quick sand, coz youve got to run over it damn quick?

Questions, questions...

I got told about this once on some silly outdoor / survival course, it may be right but the rest of the course was such ar$e i'd rather not try!

If you are unlucky enough to encounter quicksand then running is the best way off apparently. Should you fall or it become to difficult to run then you can supposedly "swim" accross it.

Never had the pleasure personally (thankfully!!!) so can't tell you if it works. I like to avoid things that try to kill me!!!!!!

Laterz

P.S. I am not going to take responsibility if anybody reads this and decides to try it!!!! You swim in quick sand, your lookout!!!!:p :p :)

Of course..I have no intention of trying it either!! :D
Yeah, I think if we go back to the non-newtonian liquids blah blah, provided you don't break the suface tension then you are ok. If your in it up to your chest and nobody throws you a rope i'm pretty sure it ain't gonna matter whatever you do!!

On a dfifferent theme, apparently you can drown in gin, as its impossible to swim in!
