Are they classed as imitation firearms, airguns, what?

Does this only apply to Scotland, or entire of UK?

"There was also a 10% increase in incidents involving “unidentified” firearms and a 44% rise in those categorised as “other firearms”, such as machine guns, CS gas, pepper sprays, stun guns, paintball guns and disguised firearms."

...slightly worrying that markers are classified in the same group as machine guns, CS gas, pepper sprays, stun guns and disguised firearms!

"A dramatic 66% leap in the number of incidents involving imitation firearms led Home Secretary Charles Clarke to hint he would consider banning replica guns, even though such a move appeared to have been ruled out by the Home Office less than a year ago."

"He said ministers would also consult on banning replica and imitation guns."

So does this apply to us or not? It shows that our issue is going to become less of a 'grey area' and it could take very little to spark talk of banning markers.

i wudnt think so, replica guns are generally a replica of the real life counterpart... e.g. airsoft guns are replicas, same goes for imitation... but i think paintball guns are pretty obvious what they are since they got a big bubble on the top... so they cant really be classed as replica's... also theyre not replicas of anything heh

Only people who can decide that is the home office - in theory paintball markers are air propelled firearms, its just the nature of what they are used for which safeguards them from being labelled as a firearm.

Politicians arn't interested in making activities into sports, neither are they interested in helping sports with potentially lethal equipment stay on the good side of the law, they are concerned about the potential a paintball marker could do in the wrong hands.. cant say i blame them in some respects.

I personally think this matter should be left alone til its addressed
