i have to agree to some points here.
I mean the number of threads moved about in the last week in insane.
The thread QP mentioned was locked because 2 posts were off topic.
Is this meant to be a "community" forum, or a restricted chat area. where all posts are moderated and then accepted or declined by the godly powers that be?
if the contents of the thread would have been more suited to the Speak Your Brains Forum, then why not move it like so many other threads?
if the contents of the thread offended (and looking back, if read wrongly my last post could be seen as offensive, even if not intended) then delete the specific post and warn the poster!.
i understand that there have to be rules. but its gone from a little bit of a relaxed atmosphere, to bloddy alcatraz overnight.

oh, and MSN great idea, shame work have a firewall that refuses to let the connection through with admin rights!!! (which im sure you maybe surprised to hear, i dont have)

Look it's like this. The mods have always removed and moved and deleted posts and threads. It's just now we are warning you and telling you we have done it.
Threads have been moved cos they are not in the right bit. I moved on the other day that was selling a gun in Speak Your Brains!
And what is wrong with Alcatraz? Gets loads of vistors every year

I'm going to say it once and never again, cos I say it every three months and no ****er listens:
Self-moderation.
We WILL let the odd thread slide, whether it's about extreme ironing or what's everyone's favorite CD is or whatever, it's when they begin to take over that we get pissed.
Also, when threads start becoming extended group chats they will be stopped/removed.
And if you like, then yes this is Alcatraz cos I'm sick of saying tha same thing and people getting on their high horses and spouting off about morality. This is not a democracy - remember that.
I've got maybe 1600 posts and 1595 have been fine - tha five when I've been pissed off have all been about this same topic and, unless I am very much mistaken, with pretty much tha same people.
I won't be posting this again, I'll just act - and if that makes me tha ******* offspring of Hitler and Mussolini with bad PMT then I really don't care.
Now are we all clear on this?

Given that I'm not allowed a 'mod button', is it possible to delete some posts within a thread, but keep the thread going? Cos Mr No Mates may have a point? Or do you have to delete the whole thing?
i agree some thread moves are puzzling,
but as for the strictness of p8 well if you check out other forums we do have a lot of movement here,hardly alcatraz!
i think the problem ain't really the threads but the chat that happens afterwards which generally is more off topic than the original thread in the first place.
look at it from a mods point of view, it must drive them mad trawling through this lot every day (just ask Robbo) and personally i can see why they put the hammer down(that was for you chip) every now and again.
me? well i phone my mates or go to the pub, all welcome to chat there(althought more often than not we'll talk about paintball!)
