Focus on your own game instead of the opponent - or was I misunderstanding you point? :)

Well - couldn´t we at least just conclude that we all have different pre-game "rituels" or things to get us ready! Maybe it IS a matter of being female/male after all - well as long as it works who cares..... ;)

Anyway - if us females wants to gain respect, let´s do it by doing "right" on field eh?!

Yes

"focus" is a mental state, that it is very individual how you reach (i.e. pre-game rituals).... but it is ALSO a way of describing what you are concentrated about (and what not) during play - and you are getting those two concepts confused now :)

Exactly what I meant by "whatever floats your boat"

Inferno, you took one line out and hence lost the context, nice try !

And no you don't have to be in the industry to gain respect, there are a bunch of guys who have my respect (and everybody else's for that matter) who are not in the industry but they have virtues that do earn respect, they may be great players, great commentators, great tacticians, the list goes on.
The common factor is that they possess at least one.

I made a list up that related to Kyle, his absence from the industry was but one example of his lack of redeeming virtues if he was to be taken seriously.
And as you see, his portfolio isn't exactly extensive if he wishes me to listen to him in preference to my own counsel.

And so Mr Inferno, I wasn't saying you need to be 'in' the indusrty at all to be respected, tho I suspect you already knew this when you wrote out that somewhat leading question, after all, nobody could be that stupid to actually believe that...could they?

Women in paintball will get the respect they think they deserve when they start having a REALISTIC idea of how good they are.

....fair enough this is a male dominated sport it always has been and always will be but there are plenty of girls out there capable of exactly the same as good male players...for example:
For example, this is a delusional load of crap. The best male players are far better than the best female players.

You're not asking for respect for being a good paintball player. You're asking for respect for being a girl who plays paintball. So what? You were born with different naughty bits, whoopie.

There are women who play who do get respect - Ashley Noble immediately comes to mind. That girl has shot me off the field on more than one occasion because she's good, and she's good because she takes the sport seriously, practices, and gets on good teams and plays against the best. And to be honest, I don't think most people even know who she is; she's not stipping down to her underwear to get on posters or sucking every tournament player dick that wanders by like some female "paintball players" seem to think is the best way to make a name for yourself. But you can bet national-level players know who she is, the same way they know who all the other good players are.

If you're not getting respect for being a good paintball player, it's not because you're a girl - it's because you're not as good of a player as you think you are. The number of women competing seriously in the sport is still so small that you can be one of the best female players and still be an unremarkable player.

You want respect? Win. Otherwise you're just the same as the rest of the mass of unremarkable players, regardless of your natural equipment.

Ouch !!!!

You do make some good points tho Chi Town and you remind me of what Rodney Squires from Dynasty always used to say and I think I mentioned it once before because it was much like 'Ockham's Razor' that's used in philosophy to cut thru all the bullsh!t, Rodney commented;

'if people tell you how good they are, how great others think they are, what really defines them, is what they have won'.

This cuts through all the bull, all the hype and brings clarity to an otherwise confused state of affairs.

I can't believe I just quoted Rodders tho, it disheartens me to have done so !
Happy XMas Rodney :)

wen will girlies get respect?!?!?!

Im a bit late to put in my point here, and agree that everyone who deserves respect should have it, but again one has to gain respect, not ask for it. Im sure that as more and more lady/girl teams appear, those that dont give any respect will get their ass shot at if indeed the female teams are any good - i agree with Chicago, but ive had a couple, but only a couple of female players i have met want respect for being a female playing ball in a predominantly male environment, but that is a serious minority in my short experience...most just get on with it.

I just generally respect all those that deserve respect regardless of gender, based mainly on ability and the people/teams approach etc.

Incidentally...

I was involved in football for many years and even coached a lot of women players/teams, but never had this type of "respect us for playing cos were female" - it was more like "whatever you can do, we can do and let us get on with it!"

on a personal note, being an ex footballer, im also used to swapping my shirt after certain games and im more than happy to do the same with any ladies teams in paintball, regardless of winning or losing - now thats respect!! (oddly enough i reckon most will refuse!) just thought id lower the tone a tad ;)
